Mashed potatoes
My mother always insisted that with stuffing and sweet potatoes, you didn't also need mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving. I didn't like stuffing or sweet potatoes when I was a child, so Thanksgiving dinner wasn't so great for me. I'm glad I'm grown now and I get to decide what will be on my Thanksgiving table!

1. Bummer. I don't like stuffing or sweets either, but my mom made spuds too.
I still don't like candied sweets or stuffing but I make all three (do love the smell of stuffing but I HATE soggy bread)

16. I make my stuffing with french bread and saute it
and it's not soggy. I found a great recipe with green apples, pecans and other goodies. It's not my mother's stuffing (actually she likes the crunchy kind), and that is what is cool about doing Thanksgiving dinner yourself!

7. At our family's Thanksgiving dinner
we have mashed potatos, candied sweet potatos, roasted sweet potatos, dressing with sausage and dressing without. Everybody is happy. Of course, there are generally 20 or so people at my cousin's house for dinner, so we need all those sides.

10. If people only made what they *needed* for Thanksgiving
then dinner wouldn't be the affair that it is. Gotta have stuffing. And sweet potatoes. AND smashed 'taters. And gravy.

Yummmmmmm....gravy.

11. i was not going to make mashed taters this year
it's just my dad and i and i was just going to do mashed sweet potatoes as i did not see the point in having sweet potatoes and mashed, but then i realized i really wanted both. so the two of us will have mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and stuffing (well, dressing really). i love my carbs.
