1. I'd settle for American-made basketball shoes
Anyone know where I can find american-made court shoes, preferably union-made?
If I'm going to shell out 90 bucks for my ball hockey shoes, I'd rather pay it to a company that pays their employees

8. Some are, some aren't.
You have to look at the label to see where the shoes are made.

30. I saw a thing on PBS (maybe Bill Moyers show?)
In the GOGO 90's they moved some production overseas. They had a hard time finding employees in the United States.

7. New Balance makes *some* of their shoes in the US. Check labels though, some are made in China.
Hope that helps.

16. howdy!
How are you? :)

I've been gone for ages, but I was just thinking about DU the other day and thought I should start poking my head around the Lounge again. Naturally, my first post back is about shoes. I'm a character of tremendous substance.

26. I've been good.
And most of my posts are in the lounge, so I can't be accused of too much depth myself.

It's good to see you back. :hi:

28. Are you still living in the same spot?
Anything new going on?

I started my PhD program. It's exhausting, to say the least, but I am loving it.

31. Oh yeah. I'm still here.
I have a new job since last September. Less money, but it's one of those steps back to go two forward.

PhD? Excellent. I have a friend in one down here at UT. She is teaching a bit, going to class, AND has a 14-month-old. I'm tired just typing that.

I know. I've been away forevah!! Not for any real reason.... offline life got extraordinarily busy, but I thought it was necessary to make time for Lounge antics again.

How have you been?

18. I'm cool. You're way behind on goings-on down in the Tofu Ghetto though.
Well, here's the latest (and some of the latest is a year old.)

Two of us hooked up.

One of us got banned on purpose, and one maybe on accident.

Nobody joined the dreaded ex-vegans that I know of, but some new people joined up.

Flirting has declined and we haven't had a pic thread in forever.

23. I've been on a bit of a creative dry spell since the summer, sadly.
Edited on Sun Nov-19-06 02:18 AM by primate1
A few pieces started, nothing finished. I'm supposed to have some work in a local art show sometime after Christmas (if it's even still going ahead) so I'm trying to break the dry spell for that.

29. dry spell, not excellent...
but art show, excellent.

My friends were just part of this great DIY art show here and it was amazing - so many talented artists. It made me quite sad that I didn't pursue lithography more seriously like I had started to do in college. But then I had this excellent falafel sandwich there, and I suddenly felt much better. :)

Your boots will start looking really tasty, no matter what they're made of.
