I've got a terrible cold. I'd like to blame GOPisEvil, but he's a little too far away to make that allegation stick. :(
I'm going to the store for nyquil and chicken soup.

What's the best thing for a NyQuil hangover? A hot toddy - skip the lemon and honey, tea optional.

I am supposed to go to a potluck on Sunday. Mediterranean-themed. I was going to make dolmadas. I hope I feel up to going.

Except I never could acquire a taste for grits...and, not to sound too indelicate...when my kids are sick, I try avoid feeding them any food or beverage that doesn't wash out.

I don't have a cold, but I *have* had an awful stomach bug for the past few days. Spent the night before last in the hospital on IV fluids for dehydration, it was so bad.
Here's hoping you feel much better soon!

19. Yes, feeling better--thank you :) |
|
If you don't do this already--consider using a lot of minced fresh garlic in your chicken soup. Or even the wet minced stuff in a jar. Garlic is GREAT for the immune system.
And tons of Vitamin C (ascorbic acid). I know there's technically no "proof" that it works against the cold virus, but I can testify (as the Mom of a 6 year old who brings home every evil cold germ going around the school) that by eating lots of garlic chicken soup and popping chewable Vitamin C tablets like candy, I avoid most colds--and the one or two that I *do* get are mild and go away after a day or two. :)

26. But that's the cure! You fill a water glass half full with JD, then fill the rest with |
|
orange juice, and drink it all at once. The OJ provides vitamin C, and the JD makes you sleep for 12 hours. And sleep is, after all, the ultimate medicine.
Go to bed, m'dear, and sleep well and long. Feel better.
