In anticipation of the holiday, what are you thankful for?
I am thankful for my new husband. He has filled this past year with so much love, laughter and music that it makes my eyes misty just thinking about it. (Tonight is the third anniversary of the day we met and we will soon be celebrating are first wedding anniversary.)

I am grateful for our dog, Bella. She's such a sweet and loving dog. I love how excited she gets when I walk in the door, so happy that I'm home.

I am overjoyed to have regained my health as last year was so difficult. Although I still have issues, they are all manageable, I have regained such a sense of freedom to really enjoy my life again.

Although we don't have a lot, I am thankful that we have all that we need and the wisdom to see that we really don't need that many material things anyway.

There's a lot more, but those are at the top.

So, what are you thankful for?

1. My health. The fact that I don't have relatives that drive me mad.
My lovely SO. The fact that the Dems took over this year.

Actually, I have a lot to be thankful for. :)

3. my parents...
I lost my job 2 months ago and I freaked out cause I lost my health insurance and *might* not be covered by the health insurance in my new job...

In a few weeks I need some bloodwork done <500$ x 4 times a year> and they are going to pay for it, and any Rx's that I might need...

So im thankfull for them...

7. My mom and dad, moreso now than ever.
Mom just left the hospital after having a heart attack, which was thankfully stopped and fixed with a quick stent. I've never been so worried in my life.

We're uninsured, so extremely difficult financial times are ahead, but at least we have each other.

23. Hey, he's the first person in the thread to even mention it at all.
About the only thing I can think of. Otherwise it's been a crappy year.

But maybe I should add partial-retirement to my list :woohoo: except that it makes me kinda poor.

17. That's a nice list.
I'd add I like seeing another complete change of seasons from last Thanksgiving, that I have a nice roof over my head, that the people and animals closest to me are still around, and that each day, whether cloudy or sunny, is still another precious day.

9. I'm thankful for the great folks here at DU
there are so many of you, each special and precious in your own unique way

I'm thankful for my two smart, beautiful daughters

I'm thankful for the love and support of my family

I'm thankful for the friends who allow me to share life with them

I'm thankful (usually) for the music that's in me and whatever magic it is that allows it to come out

I'm thankful to Steve Henderson for making my Breedlove guitar, to the unknown hands responsible for making my Martin and to the Japanese robots that made my Takamine--how will I ever decide which one to sell second?

I'm thankful to Hall's Mentholyptus for making my eight weeks of throat trouble nearly semi-tolerable once in awhile for a half an hour or so

I'm thankful at the moment to Sir Thomas Phillipps who in 1608 set something in motion that still offers such enjoyment nearly 400 years later

10. My parents more than anything
Then those other significant people in my life.

After that, I suppose I can be thankful that I'm alive and living a relatively good life compared to many people.

18. Truthfully, nothing
I'm not thankful for much of anything. I feel as though I've worked my ass off to help others for two decades and when I need or want a little help, well............it ain't there.

Not cynical, just realistic.

19. Sorry, I hope things get better
Sometimes you can't change situations but you can change your thoughts about them.

Do you have somewhere to sleep at night? Food to eat? Clean water? Plumbing? Right there, you're probably doing better than half the planet.

24. Easy question!
Jerald, Ana, Katie, Raza, Amber, Breanna, Emiliana, Wyatt. Democrats winning, and DU existing. Getting to live in a fascinating part of the world. Being able to give my daughters a nice life and a good education. Books, libraries, music, movies, and good television. Making and eating good food.

28. It just hit me. KNITTING
I've been thinking about your question for a while.
Thinking seriously, not frivolously.
Really.

Just now, on the way to the kitchen to fix a drink, it hit me.
Knitting.
No I don't knit.
But I'm wearing knitted socks, knitted boxers, knitted lounge (jammy?) pants, and a knitted hooded sweatshirt.
And it's all SO comfortable.
Without it I'd be wearing stiff, uncomfortable, WOVEN stuff.

Oh, my drink wasn't actually 'broken'.
Although it did sort of need 'repairing', or 'rebuilding', if you will.
I guess I should have said 'mix a drink'.
'Fix' is kind of a southern euphemism.
;-)
Happy Thanksgiving.
:-)
