Are self-proclaimed non-conformists simply conforming ... |
|
to another set of confining parameters...
In the quest to be different, aren't people just looking for another place where they feel safe enough to give up that what makes them individuals in order to appease the parameters of that particular "in" crowd....?
BTW, Go Bucks....

2. Sometimes, sometimes not |
|
Non conformist conformist will usually completely or almost completely observe some kind of culture (Goth, hippy, metal, ect.), sometimes to the extent of appearing like a stereotype or caricature. True non conformists will usually observe a variety of customs, not fitting any stereotype well, because they are doing what they want, not what someone else wants. I think that some people have more of a naturual tendency to want to conform to either mainstream society or some group, where as some people don't. One of my non comformist friends tells me that isn't true, that most people really don't want to be conformists but are afraid to be anything different.

3. If they're proclaiming it I'd say yes. It is those that truly don't care |
|
about parameters that are the true non conformers. IMO.
