I need some prodding
to get off my lazy butt and change the wheels and tires on the car. Gotta get the snow tires on before the Thanksgiving trek up to Milwaukee. I know I have to get going, but here I sit posting in the lounge, and drinking my coffee. Can anyone spare some motivation?

do I need snow tires up here??

I just moved to Madison from North Carolina . . .

Just think - if you go to Milwaukee - there's a DU meetup on Friday.... I doubt seriously if I'll be able to go - but I'd like to. There's info on the particulars in the Wisconsin group.

edit to add:

OH - and WELCOME TO DU!!

:toast:

6. Depending on the type of tires
on your car, you are probably ok. Most folks (90%) get by with all-season tires in the winter. If your car has summer high performance tires, a switch to snow tires can do wonders. Kind of like the difference between sandals and boots when walking through snow.

Thanks for the welcome and invite. I'll be going back and forth between the Holy Hill area, where I grew up and my folks live, Milwaukee to visit grandma, West Bend to catch up with old high school friends, and Sheboygan to drop my SO off at his sister's and visit with friends. Going to be a bit hectic.

Well, I've moved all the stuff in storage out of the way, so now I can get at the tires. Time for another coffee break. Then I need to haul the wheels and tires down a flight of stairs and through the lot to where the car is parked.

By the way, I've put on my tin foil hat and grounded shoes, the cattle prod thing won't work anymore. :tinfoilhat: :silly:

8. how do I know what kind of tires
I have now? Does the fact that they were put on in NC make a difference?

9. If you are interested
this is what came off:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Potenza+RE070

these went on for winter:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Blizzak+REVO+1&vehicleSearch=true&partnum=245R7BZREVO1&fromCompare1=yes&place=12

The manufacturer and model of the tire should be written on the side of the tire. If you can get this information, I could check. Most tires sold nowadays are all season, and fine for winter in Madison.

By the way, thanks everyone for the anti-procrastination. I'm done with the project now.

3. Look. You can sit here and not enjoy DU because...
you are worrying about being a lazyass and not doing what you SHOULD be doing.

Or you can go outside and change the wheels, which will take all of 30 minutes, and then you can come back inside and play around on DU without any guilt!

It's an easy choice! :D
