Quick -- Post a pic of what's on your computer desktop right now
Don't be afraid let it ALL hang out! :)

Notice the lack of icons on the desktop, but the million minimized windows. I'm an in-born multi-tasker at heart! ;)

**Don't know how to capture a screen shot here is a quick tutorial: (Sorry Mac users :( )

1. Press Print Screen button (PrtSc) to capture your full computer screen
2. Select Start > Programs > Accessories > Paint. The Paint application opens.
3. Press Ctrl + V to paste the screen shot into Paint. If you receive a message that says: "The image in the clipboard is larger than the bitmap. Would you like the bitmap enlarged?" click Yes.
4. Select File > Save As. The Save As dialog opens.
5. In the Save in field, select a location to save the file, such as your Desktop.
6. In the File name field, type in a name for the bitmap.
7. In the Save as type field, select .bmp, .gif, or .jpg.
8. Click Save.

I play with eye-candy the way some people rearrange furniture. My living room would give a decorator a heart attack, but I keep my desktop looking fairly nice. :-)

Love your wallpaper, btw.

I like the mood of it -- even though all the elements of the desktop are real things, the image comes across to me as surreal.... It's an interesting combination of objects....

Yes those are Joe's mules. That was taken some time in the late 1980's. It is at the entrance to the Amerind Museum near Dragoon, Arizona. Joe used to be the caretaker there. He is gone now, and I regret I never gave him a copy of that photo. The wonderful old oak tree made it this summer - it was a close call, the area lost a lot of them to the drought. And the rock will be there forever I hope.

65. its the scottish highlands
I took the photo about 3 miles from here. In the distance, the mountain to the right
is 'ben hope' the highest mountain in the far north of the UK, and the left mountain with
the craggy top is 'ben loyal' near tongue. All the ground is covered with a few meters thick
of peat moss, i am standing to my ankles in water to snap the photo. The ground is very old
stone, 100 million years ++ and it is all solid igneus stone, not absorbing water, and the
water stays on the surface in this spongelike wetland that covers everything like a carpet.

Sin of all sins, is they're considering installing 300ft tall wind turbines just to the right of the photo,
on the sepick estate near bettyhill.

128 MB Nvidia Geforce 4 MX 4000 Graphics card.

The amazing part is that the graphics are smooth and seamless, even running a movie in 3D barely taxes my computer. This is a computer that chokes on most modern games and graphic applications!

74. That visual style looks great with everything on your desktop!
If I remember correctly, it's the Area 04 style, right? If the wallpaper coloring had been a little more drained of color, I would have said it reminded me of some horror movie scene when the camera zooms in a captures a image of the "monster" standing behind the viewer being reflected in the mirror. But, I enjoy it -- like a enjoy horror flicks. :) And I have to mention that I find it amusing that you have folder labeled "subversive" on your desktop. :7

The "subversive" folder is my website files. The site used to be called "subvert and destroy" but I changed the name recently, so I'll probably change the folder name soon too, haha.

Even though the characters' appearance don't suggest it, this is a mystery/horror genre anime -- I like! Thanks for the heads up!

Microsoft should have known that a darker wallpaper was needed for the Zune visual style. :eyes:

96. Its was built in 1935. Majorly influenced by the styles of the era.
The original streamliners mostly exited service in the 50s and sadly rusted to nothing as train travel declined. It makes me sad to think many these beauties are no more:

117. Here you go
They were one of the first acts signed to Apple Records in the late 1960's by the Beatles when they were seeking to develop and showcase new artists. Most of them were from the area of Swansea, Wales, very good songwriters and musicians who sort of lived in the shadow of the Beatles for a while.

You Tube Link (start with No Matter What)

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=badfinger&search=Search

If you've ever heard the song (now a very "pop" version) of Without You - recorded by Harry Nilsson, Mariah Carey, etc. it was written by their songwriting team of Pete Ham and Tom Evans.

They also backed George Harrison on All Things Must Pass, Ringo Starr on a number of his solo recordings and recorded the Paul McCartney song "Come & Get It" for the movie The Magic Christian.

Other well known songs:

Come & Get It
No Matter What
Baby Blue
Day After Day

Very underrated and underappreciated songwriters and musicians in their day, they left Apple and were ripped off by an unscrupulous manager. Their lead singer and guitarist ended up committing suicide in despair over bad management that tied up their ability to record and perform. Pete Ham was a sweet, kind, incredibly talented songwriter and musician.

Great book about them Without You

124. I love strategy games
I've played Starcraft, Age of Empires, Cossacks, and Command and Conquer.

Though I would not call my style real-time per-se (I use the pause button far too much).

But I do play multiple opponents at a time, and go for a kill ratio of 20:1

I also Like Diablo II, which is not quite a strategy game, but I play a necromancer with large skeleton armies.

:hi:

127. Ohhh, iceland
It was amazing. I can't recommend it highly enough. It's actually a quite famous hike, and a good number of people do it every year. It was just my partner and I, but there were a few other people we would see during the day on the trail that we got to know quite well. There are huts that are quite advanced every night, but we had amazing weather and slept in our tent every night except one (which was the right night to choose as it was an insane wind and rain storm in between two peaks of a glacier!!). It was the kind of hike where every four hours or so you would come upon an entirely new and entirely alien landscape: the ground thumping and steaming from the heat and pressure, an endless (seemingly) black sand desert, hundreds and hundreds of waterfalls tumbling down a rolling hill to the ocean, icy glacial rivers (that was the only part that I didn't like -- had to cross them in sandals and the pain from the coldness of the water was unbearable), and on and on. It was completely amazing and I would recommend anyone to do it -- though another friend took my advice and had six days of hail, rain and wind! The best is that after the hike on your way out of Reykjavik, you can swing by the blue lagoon to ease your aching bones.
