You have to tell me I'm a spoiled bitch for wanting to stay in a hotel and not a sleeping bag on the hillside. Also, there have to be some dead goats. Otherwise, it just ain't a honeymoon to me.

68. Thankfully, I couldn't give a shit what they (or anyone else for that matter)
thinks about my romantic life, or the lack thereof. And it's not like being called a lesbian rates anywhere near an insult in my book. I figure if I die single, so be it. I'm quite happy with myself, and do not need a man to complete me. I AM complete, on my own. If/when the right man comes along I would be happy to share my life with him - allow him to compliment me, not complete me.

The truth is, I genuinely like being by myself. I don't feel like I am missing anything. I don't mean I'm opposed to the idea but I'm not seeking it. I've never gotten into the whole "dating" thing. I've been on one REAL date in my life - and that was with the stalker. We know how that one turned out. LOL

so:

Here's your toaster!

heehee.

108. Why thank you, sir.
LOL - ya gotta love that toaster! It was on the first page in google images and I just couldn't resist. ;)

I appreciate the "strong woman" compliment. I've had a very difficult life and chose to learn from and grow due to my experiences rather than wilt in a corner. It hasn't always been easy and at times it still isn't - but for the most part, I'm content with where I'm at.

110. You are welcome
I am on a similar path and also refuse to wilt in a corner. To be honest I have done my share of wilting.
It only leads to despair. And nothing good comes from that.
You ARE a strong woman Madrone!!

115. I've wilted before also.
Most of my childhood involved wilting in the corner. I've learned. No more!

And you, GoPsUx, YOU are a good guy.

107. Thanks, GOPisEvil!
Hmm... I'm an only child too. Maybe that has something to do with it. I've always maintained that my desire (need!) for time to myself is a direct result of being an only child that had to entertain herself. You definitely learn to be at ease in your own company when you're by yourself most of the time.

As for relationships - I've never understood the pursuit of a partner for the sake of being part of a couple; to not be alone. I'm not wired that way at all, and if (as many I see are) a relationship contains drama and grief I don't want to work it out I want OUT period. Life is too short.

As anti-social as the above may sound I LOVE people and can connect with people of all ages and backgrounds usually quite easily. I'm an odd mix in many ways - as with this topic. I'm a paradoxical mix of loner and people person at the same time.

109. That's exactly right.
I know how to be alone. I'm confortable with being alone. In fact, I need my alone time, particularly after having to be social.

I've only been with one person who felt totally right. Where nothing in the relationship felt like we were having to work at it. Turns out she had some, um, availability issues. ;) But, even when I am in a relationship, I need some space. I don't do clingy. So, I look for independent women who don't need me every second of every day.

I love people too, and once I open up, I can be quite gregarious. In fact, when I tell some people who don't know me well that I am an introvert, they're shocked.

I've always called myself the gregarious loner. :)

111. Have you found it nearly IMPOSSIBLE -
to find a woman that really understood your need for space? That's been my experience. Of course, they all SAY they understand, even agree and claim to have the same need. But then...

When the time comes and I need a moment it's all: What's WRONG? Don't you love me anymore? WHY don't you want to be with me? WHY WON'T YOU TALK TO ME? blah blah blah.... :puke: At that point I really DON'T want to be around them and it's not because I need a moment it's because THEY'RE ANNOYING THE SHIT OUT OF ME!!!

112. Oh my goodness, get out of my head!!
"Why are you so quiet? Are you mad?"

"No, just not in the mood to talk."

"But why, do you want to talk about it?"

"No, I just want to sit here and do my thing."

"I knew it, you're mad."

:argh:

To answer your question: yes. :)

113. LOL
I have some male friends that have the same issue. *I* totally understand where they're coming from - but they're not my "type" of guy. I imagine that frustrates the hell out of them -- finally a chick that gets it - but not the -right- chick. Ha!

Actually, I have some female friends that seem to get it, but for some reason, we have no chemistry, except as friends. (Or, I've horribly mis-read things and we're so deep in the friend zone that it's too late.)
