Anyone here tonight want to help with a Microsoft Word document problem? |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-19-06 09:33 PM by Radio_Lady
I've been using the same damned feature for years.
I am using "INSERT" to put the "DATE and TIME" on a document.
The interface box has a check off for "UPDATE AUTOMATICALLY" -- which used to work fine.
Now, it's not happening. I still have a document that is reading the wrong date (Monday, November 13, damn it), even though I can see the grayed-out link.
My computer date and time look fine, because I checked that out.
By the way, this is Microsoft Word 2000 -- hubby says it would cost too much to purchase upgrades for our two computers.
Any quick suggestions? Much obliged -- in advance -- for any help!

3. Did you "Save Changes" on an exit that might have eliminated |
|
the Auto Update of the day/date function?
I'd delete it, close the doc, then reopen and reinsert.
But then, I'm an idiot, so...

4. Hi, flvegan... Yeah, I've tried that. Still showing Monday, Nov. 13 |
|
(which was the last time I altered the document). I have to manually type (or reinsert) the correct date.
What a stupidity! I think I'll eliminate the date completely for right now, because I've spent about an hour trying to untangle this.
No, you're not an idiot.
Thanks for responding....
Wishing you the very best of the coming holiday season,

5. What happens if you try creating a brand new document |
|
and attempting to type in the date? Does it auto-prompt and then let you set the autodating function? At least that would show that either there's a problem with the program, or a problem with the one document.

6. Good thought! I'll try that and then I've got to do my back exercises. |
|
I'm fighting off a couple of months miserable pain and hope I'm winning.
Thanks again......for this.

8. Oh, I'm glad I found out about that. I'll PM you for some off the cuff advice on backs. |
|
PS. We just dropped the date and time update feature. It doesn't seem to be working. We'll probably have to update our MS Word next year, and it isn't a big enough deal for me to spend any more time with it.
