So my cat tried to kill me last night, and I deserved it....
My daughter was over with her big hyperactive doggie who is well and truly hated by my kitty boys. Not that he has ever actually harmed any of them, he is just loud and goofy and young and thinks he should be able to play with them because the cat in HIS house is his best friend.

So I picked up my old Siamese and had him securely cradled, walked into the TV room where my daughter and her new sweetie were watching TV ..dog is stretched out on the sofa, apparantly snoozing. Boyfriend goes AWWW over the kitty and as I turned to take Thomas back to the safety of my bedroom, Cobain (dog) took a flying leap from the sofa to my feet and scared the crap out of Thomas..I retreated to the bedroom with Cobain leaping around me barking and ready to play and Thomas by now fed up and panicking rared back in my arms and laid into my face. Lucky for me he missed my eyes but he laid a long scratch down the left side of my face from just below my eyes to my chin. Bled like a stuck hog.. I iced it, cleaned it, then laid neosporin in it and this morning it was puffy, but improved. I spent a good bit of time applying camoflage on the swelling. (yellow coverup cream is your friend!!!)

I will live and so will the critters involved. But it was pretty wild at the time.

1. Thank goodness it didn't harm your eyes!
One more reason I like dogs instead of cats.

7. me either. ..he just hit at whatever he could touch. He was well
and truly panicked

Now this is the cat who sneaks up on me at night and will very gently tap my face with the pads of his feet to get my attention so I will rub him and pet him and other wise baby him. He is most gentlemanly with his people unless he is very hurt or very panicked. He bit me once too but that was when he was trapped under the garage door and I was trying to rescue him. Also justified.

16. Hmm, I've had 1,000 pound horses get in trouble and wait calmly for me to get them out.
I prefer domesticated animals as pets. :-)

Stupid mortal allergy.

8. I have been knocked over by dogs, and bitten a time or two
though not seriously..

Thanks for the thoughts though. Face is improved today, and I will dress my wound again tonight.

3. I'm lucky that my cat likes dogs
Miranda's always had a dog in the house to play with, and likes my mom's dog and my brother's dog. My mom has a yorkie, so that dog isn't much bigger than Miranda, who is a very tiny cat with a big attitude. My dog, Katie, weighs about 45 lbs, and Miranda can take her down. My brother's dog is big, like 60 lbs and Miranda likes her, too. Miranda does not get along with other cats well, though.

10. If Thomas had been raised with dogs, he would probably like
them. Most cats raised with dogs do OK with them. My old cat ATlas hated every other cat he ever saw but he loved the old dog we had at the time.

Thomas likes his people, and he tolerates the 3 younger cats in the house because they were born here, and he "helped raise" them. Other cats need not apply, if they show up in the yard, the four boys tag team them!

5. Holy crap!
Watch your face for any signs of infection, sweetie.

My mom got cat scratch fever from our girl Oreo years ago. That close to your lymph nodes, and you could have some problems!

Poor Thomas.

9. Doin OK!
Turns out I wasn't quite ready for the big H yet.

Doc kept me on the BCPs, and has me taking a straight 3 months worth before taking the placebos, which seems to have reduced the pain quite a bit (only dealing with it 4 times a year as opposed to 12).

She was just afraid that the total hysterectomy would lead to more problems at a younger age than I was ready for (full beard, hormone patches, etc).

As long as the pain is less, that's all I care about! Fargs says thanks for the pat! :hi:

11. good on you!!! If you don't want kids, ask about a laser ablation
If you don't have fibroids, it is a very viable alternative to the Big H!

Hope we have a pre Christmas DU meeting and that you and Reprehensor get to come!

I went up to Wisconsin twice last year, and during the first trip, I bought a book about writing your family history, so I started!

My great grandfather had 9 brothers and sisters, and none of the family knew about the other branches, since several branches had left Wisconsin in the early part of last century.

I managed to dig up ALL of the lost branches (and I kick ASS, because they were SMITHS!), and am busy tracking the modern day descendants, traveling to where they are (so far, Utah, California, Wisconsin, Illinois, Washington, Idaho, and Texas), getting their family stories and letters, scanning their photos, etc. I also keep very accurate historical scrapbooks that I take with me when I travel, so the cousins can see everything laid out.

I've got about 600 pages so far. And have made lots of wonderful friends as WELL as cousins. It has become my obsession. :D
