Have you ever wondered if your life turned out to be an "alternate universe" version?
And you got the "bad" version? :P

Guess I've been watching too much Star Trek... :yoiks:

4. No, not a thing.
:) But certain aspects of my life (not dream-related) make me wonder...

5. LOL....
:) :* There are just some things (not the things you're thinking about :P) that just seem like "alternates"---like the fact that W is President. Gore should rightfully have become President in 2000. Think about how much different things would be right now if that had happened.

There are some things in my life that seem like that type of thing too.

10. I look back & often wonder "what if...?"
On both good & bad things.

Like, "What if I decided to dump my ex-wife before we got married?" I'd not have a divorce on my record, and I would not aged 10 years in 1 year of marriage due to my ex nearly spending me into bankruptcy.

Or, "What if I met my current wife a year or two sooner?" Would we have had a 2nd child by now due to us starting 2 years earlier?

Or, even further back, "What if I hadn't frozen up when those two girls called me at home in 8th grade?" No, not at the same time... but, on separate occasions. I was so shy I could not even talk! But, my lack of dating led me to be really depressed about girls/women throughout high school & college.

12. Well, if David Deutsche's many-worlds...
...hypothesis is right, there are a virtually infinite number of 'yous' and 'mes' occupying universes that range from almost identical to ours to very different. All these universes branched off from ours whenever one of us made a choice, however small. If you had the choice of taking the left elevator or the right in a department store last week, the universe split at that point and one version of you took the left and the other took the right. When you think that a 'decision' may be something as tiny as whether an electron somewhere in your body moves to a higher or lower energy level (something that happens thousands of times per second), it's clear that there are a lot of universes out there.

Now, given the enormous sample size of universes, it's likely that the question of how 'good' they are follows a normal (Gaussian) distribution; a bell curve, if you will. It's therefore overwhelmingly more likely that we occupy one of the 'average' universes in the center of the curve than either the very bad or very good ones out near the tails. We're very probably in the suburbs of possible universes, where things are neither very good nor always awful.

This alone is enough to explain the otherwise unaccountable popularity of MOR music and 'Dancing With the Stars.'

35. Ok, if that's what you want to tell youself.
Whatever makes you sleep better at night.

And now for something completely different....

Sit on my face, and tell me that you love me.
I'll sit on your face and tell you I love you, too.
I love to hear you moralize,
When I'm between your thighs;
You blow me away!

Sit on my face and let my lips embrace you.
I'll sit on your face and let my love be truly.
Life can be fine if we both sixty-nine,
And we'll sit on our faces in all sorts of places and play,
'Till we're blown away!

Ok, I'm going to get in trouble now aren't I?

27. I think about that on occasion.
"If I had done this instead of that", "if I hadn't moved to such-and-such a place", etc. But I don't spend time regretting things, because basically, everything I've done or not done has contributed to who I am right now, and as they say, I've come a long way, baby, from where I started.

I can even pinpoint the very moment in time (at least to an hour or two) when I got switched into the bad version. I've been trying to find my way back to the good version for 6 years now.
