My nephew returned his PS3 today.
And bought a Wii.

He simply got fed up with all the things that kept going wrong.

1. How do you pronounce Wii anyway?
Is it "we" or "why?"

Bummer about the PSX 3. It's still to early to tell if Sony has a major dud on their hands, but generally speaking, high-priced video game consoles do not do well. The Neo-Geo, the 3DO, and the Atari 5200 were all priced very high for their time. And all of them turned out to be duds.

2. "We."
Although there's plenty of potential for sophomoric jokes.

As for the PS3, I'm betting it smokes the competition.

12. Thank you!
:D

I hope there are other reasons, of course... I like to think 68% of my politics are compatible around here... :7

20. Thank you, that's what I thought.
It occurred to me that although I've been reading about the Wii for some time, I've never actually heard anyone pronounce it's name before. Go figure.

3. Interesting. Our 13 yr old is lobbying heavily for a Wii.
which is nice, cuz they're cheaper and they're more compatible with the stuff we've already got. :D

6. As a game programmer, I find the Wii to be cooler.
The PS3 has pretty graphics, but that's never really done it for me. I could still play old Tandy games and be happy, where graphics are concerned.

The Wii is pretty neat, though. I like the interactive aspect with the new controller. You can move around, and the character in the game follows your motions. :)

9. Sure.
But if it's a multiplatform game, which would you rather play it on?

Wii's controller doesn't look like much fun to me. Yeah, it's got an arcady look to it, fun for parties and things. But I bet my arms would get really tired of swinging that thing around for more than a couple of minutes.

16. First, the sensitivity is adjustable...
You don't need to swing your arms around, if you don't want to. However, IF you do, and you get tired after a few minutes swinging around a 4 oz remote, see a doctor, please, there is definitely something wrong with you.

8. How'd he get a Wii?
They aren't in stock anywhere. Sold out everywhere early Sunday morning.

If he was able to get a Wii today, he should consider himself very lucky.

11. Sony's first gens are never good
PS2 had lots of bugs.

Eventually, my SO and I will be getting a PS3 for FFXIII and MGS4 :)

And he's getting a Wii this Xmas :D

13. Yeah, first versions of each PS gen usually sucks.
Their first versions of each PS gen always has problems. We went through two V1 PSs before we got a good one...the ultra slim PS2.

Where were y'all able to get a Wii? Did you have to stand in line for it?

We got ours at midnight on the release day. Haven't opened it yet...still in the package until Christmas morn.

hopefully by then the console will be reasonably priced.
