2. Depends on what we're shopping for.
for basic weekly food shopping, etc, it's usually me that does it, alone, during the school week when the kids are at school and he's at work.

for holiday gift shopping we tend to go together so we can confer on various relatives' gifts.

on weekends, though, he is happily willing to go food shopping if the need arises. He's totally cool with that.

:D Aren't you fascinated?

3. One of my pet peeves is watching "couples shopping"...
She is intently pricing items on the shelf while he stands dutifully next to her blocking the entire aisle and staring off into space. That much togetherness is just a little creepy.
Mr. Tinfoilin enjoys going by himself to purchase the meats for the week. I guess that takes care of his hunting instict. I go on a different day to buy the produce and dry goods. I am the nester. After thirty years, it works for us. :)

6. Who buys the ice cream?

8. We BOTH buy the ice cream...
And either we both forget (dark accusatory glances) or we both remember (no room in the freezer)...

Yes, ice cream is a very important item!

(I have often made quick trips to the Dairy Queen for blizzards to take care of this problem!!) :)

4. Depends.
I cover the grocery store more often than not, and when I -do- drag him along, we plan ahead of time and practically sprint through the store. :)

I cover the liquor store. I usually know wtf I want and if I need to take a moment to decide, I know the area where most of what I like is located. I can pretty much count on him only to get whiskey.

Otherwise we go together, only because we don't have a car and I don't like walking too far out of my neighborhood on my own. Plus I can make him carry crap. :D

5. He can buy stuff on the short list
I do the REAL shopping - and I hate company for that job. Just slows me down and confuses things. For stuff like a major purchase (appliance) we go together but I hog most of the decision making.

7. we usually shop alone
at this stage of the game, cute little shopping sprees to art galleries and flea markets are something we rarely do anymore, there is barely room to turn around in our house as it is

necessary shopping, i think we're old enough to handle it on our own, although strangely if there is a big wine tasting going on at the grocery store, we both want to "help"

10. usually we go together
Especially if we're buying a video games or going to the grocery store- we're both major dorks and love grocery shopping together :)

Sometimes he brings me along when he shops for clothes, but usually when I shop for myself I go alone.

14. We were poor for so long we found we had to work together
We found it was best to work together when it came to figuring out how to spend our money. We had so little of it, we learned it was better to negoiate every purchase so we didn't waste our resources or have unnecessary arguments. Our first decade together was kind of like urban "Survivor".

16. It really depends with us...
we seem to know when it makes sense to go together and when it doesn't.

With me being out of town as much as I am, a lot of separate shopping goes on.
