Homeowner Swings Machete At Men Urinating In Front Of His House (One Shot)
Edited on Tue Nov-21-06 10:28 AM by matcom
<snip>

TRENTON -- Three men seen urinating in front of a house on Federal Street got the surprise of their lives early Sunday morning -- an enraged homeowner ran out wielding a machete, then chased and shot at them, police reported.

Emilio Dario Martinez, 31, of Trenton, was shot once in the abdomen, according to Trenton Police Spokesman Peter Page.

Martinez was in stabile condition last night at Capital Health Systems at Fuld hospital.

Attempts to interview him were unsuccessful; his room and phone were restricted, security there said.

The men had been walking home from the M&M Bar located at 400 Centre St., when nature called, and they allegedly stopped in front of a residence in the 400 block of Federal Street.

"They were confronted by a man who ran from his house carrying a machete, enraged (that) the three had been urinating in front of his house," Page reported.

The three men took off, and were chased by men in a van who cornered them near the intersection of Lamberton and Bridge streets.

"One man, later identified as Joseph Rivera, 19, of the 400 block of Federal Street, exited the van and fired a gun at the three (bar patrons)," Page reported.

"Martinez was struck once in the abdomen. His wound is not life threatening."

The three fleeing men finally flagged down a passing police patrol car in the 400 block of South Broad Street.

Rivera was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, unlawful possession of a gun, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Another chaser in the van, Raul L. Rivera, 33, of the 100 block Home Avenue, was arrested on unrelated warrants, police said.

4. I live in a nice, but very public neighborhood.
A neighbor told me last summer that in the middle of the afternoon some guy whose car was parked by my house whipped it out and took a whiz on my lawn. I could hardly believe it since there are cars going by all the time. If the cops catch somebody doing that it has the unsavory charge of "indecent exposure". That doesn't sound quite so cool.

9. Hooray for my hometown!
My friend's brother is playing a gig in Trenton tomorrow night and we're going to see him play. I'll have to give them a heads up not to piss on anyone's lawn while we're there :P

11. The problem with new development
The developers of most housing areas just don't build alleys like they used to. It made public urination (and the occasional vomiting) much more private.
