9. I've always thought there were even funnier bits
in KRP. But who am I to argue with the masses?

That bit with Carlson fighting a losing battle with the Venetian blinds, though — heebus, that damned near killed me.

And then there was Johnny and the Phone Cops...

And... and... and...

"What can we do for you, Venus?"

"I wanna hat!"

And... and... and...

"Right down the drain! ... with Les Nessman!"

25. He did, and that was improv of sorts
Before they shot the first episode, he bumped his head (I think) and had a Band-Aid on it. He decided to make it part of his character.

24. The best Les-sports episode
and one of the best episodes period was when he got banned from the Reds' clubhouse because a rumor started that he was gay. The bit when he's out on the ledge was absolutely classic!

The player calls to apologize and they hand the phone to him on the ledge.

"Hello? Les Nessman speaking.

(pause)

"Not much."

And when Carlson stuck his head out the window, holding a dictionary...

"'Fardels,' Les..."

23. Remember the LOOK on his face when he said that?
I swear, I thought fire was gonna shoot out of his eyes.

LOL! And the one where they met with Vicki Von Vicki (Dr. Joyce Brothers) to try to get the account for her line of jeans, and Herb met a woman in the hotel and got it on with her and then she told him she'd had a sex change.

Poor Herb. He was such a schmuck.

"The Dick Van Dyke show" when Rob opens the door to see Greg Morris standing there.

JUst perfect moments in TV history.

10. Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!
I LOVE that episode--I wonder how many people actually think turkeys can fly? I bet it's a lot.

I absolutely adored that series. Remember the episode when Johnny and Venus went live on the air with a highway patrol officer? They were going to drink alcohol and test how their reflexes reacted. Venus got totally smashed, but while Johnny started out totally stoned, by the end of the episode he was as sober as a stone. The cop couldn't understand it . . . .

Happy Turkey Day, everybody, and look out for those turkeys!!

34. Uhh....Turkeys can fly..
CAN WILD TURKEYS FLY?

Wild turkeys can and do fly. Although these birds may sometimes weigh over 25 pounds, their strong muscles and wings allow them powerful flight over short distances. However, adults rarely fly with continuous wingbeats for more than about 1/8 mile. When gliding with periodic wingbeats-- such as flying downslope-- turkeys can fly about 1 mile without difficulty. Their flight speed has been estimated as up to 55 to 60 mph. By nature, however, turkeys are "cursorial" (running) birds and they prefer to move about and escape on foot except when startled or severely chased.

31. they addressed some serious issues in a great way, too
I remember the censorship episode where the Jerry Falwell-like character tried to get the station to drop rock 'n' roll music... and, one of their long-time advertisers was pressured into dropping his account: Red Wigglers, the Cadillac of Worms.

Or, the episode after the real life deaths at the Who concert in Cincy...

Or, when Arthur Carlson runs for city council and they find out the incumbent was an alcoholic. When Carlson blurts it out, he feels guilty & tries to throw the election... then you hear Les on the phone: "This is Deep Throat again. Did you know that when Arthur Carlson is home, he likes to lounge around - in a dress?"

Or, some of the episodes dealing with racism - Venus getting picked up for robbery & going on trial, or where he volunteers to try to help a young gang member stay in school ("All you told me about was a bunch of gangs living in a round neighborhood.")

33. Good. But barely in the Top 50.
Doesn't even make it past Rev. Jim taking the driving test on "Taxi".

John DeBella was inspired by that moment, though, and the WYSP Turkey Drop got 5,000 turkeys to give out this year !

WEll done, John!
