Poll question: Jon Stewart - pot smoker, or not?
It's "the Obligatory Jon Stewart post of the day"! Sorry... bored today. I'm wondering what you guys think. We know as fact Daily Show host Jon Stewart used to indulge in the bud when he was a student at William & Mary. I personally think he still does it, and so do his wife and close friends. I dunno; just a feeling ;)

Been around them kinda folks too long, and now know how to rekkunize it. ;)

So weigh in, DUers who are bored and have too much time on your hands today. Which side of the fence are YOU on? Confess it and air it: your opinion: IS JON STEWART STILL A POT SMOKER? OR NO WAY?

along with Willie Nelson, and Snoop Doggy Dogg certainly suggests that he does.

7. Hope not - I've tried coke
It does create a certain "top of the world" feeling. I felt like Madonna on it. But... got bored with it and haven't touched drugs much since. Yes... much. There's another drug I tried that I will never try again, because it makes cocaine feel like a dusting of Johnson & Johnson's baby powder compared to it. It's too powerful, too euphoric, and plus it burns your nose. I won't say what it is here... but I will never touch it again. Because if I did?

45. No, I am not saying that at all. WTF?
If you have ambition you use coke? SHIT, no, some people are just driven

the whole world is not on strong chemical additives.

8. ya know
It's very possible and common to be even a daily smoker and lead an ambitious and productive life. It's often just like a cocktail after a day's work not necessarily a lifestyle where the drug must be ingested at regular intervals for a physical addiction to be maintained. I know the stereotype of a pot smoker is a loser in his parents' basement but that's not exactly an absolute.

He has a baby now so I'm guessing whatever he does is more affected by this than anything else.

Just saying success does not rule out smoking.

that helps my insomnia that doesn't also give me unpleasant side-effects.

15. So true... folks I know in H'wood use it ALL THE TIME
It became "the hip thing" after coke crashed. Pot and Evian: Hollywood's milk and cookies. Having been round those people a lot, my toke... er, take, is that Stewart's definitely a user. That makes me love him no less or more. He'd be funny without it, as we all know. But as the ultimate wind-down cocktail, in the entertainment biz it's got no opponents. I know; I was there and still work in that industry at least 7 months out of 12 of the year. Anyone who wants proof, PM me your email address, and I'll show it to you.

Have to admit I was shocked to read that. And this wasn't the post-cancer days, either. This was back in his Voyager days, hanging round with Lynn Margulis and them folks. Sagan was a rock and roll scientist before that was cool.

Miss him. :(

43. Random tangents?
Well, people DO tend to free associate when they're high.

I do it all the time anyway. One thought triggers another and the next thing you know I'm talking about something completely different.

People that have known me a long time seem to be able to follow these leaps far better than my wife does.

It's a great interview with him and Stephen Colbert- done by Maureen Dowd. I laughed out loud several times while reading it.

That was the jist of it anyway, for him being a stoner and a productive guy were incompatible.

26. My official statement on him saying that is... ;)
I hope he doesn't think pot would stunt his ability to work hard! Because then how could he resist cocaine, which *enhances* your ability to work hard, and meth, which totally kicks cocaine's ass and makes it look like NOTHING in that department...? Whoops. I said it.

If Jon thinks that, he'd be then vulnerable to cocaine, which is me just sayin'. A lot of talented people get sucked down that hole. I almost did.

Jon, trust the bud. It will make you wiser.

<---- doesn't even smoke it... but looking for an instructor ;)

24. Does he drink?
Probably and in the same quantities...on occasion.

I can't imagine that a smart guy like that in the ascendancy of a long career would have much time to be 'wasted' anyway...what with a daily talkshow, writing responsibilities, a wife and young child...having a 'polite' cocktail and a toke at a 'get-together' is probably about all he does.

If you are 'go-go', simple time off on a weekend to lay in a hammock and do nothing is a 'drug'-like experience.

48. Probably
But I doubt he smokes a whole lot. It's got nothing to do with him being sharp or anything. I'll bet he's simply too busy. A new child, running a daily comedy show. The man works hard. I'm not saying you can't work hard and still smoke in your off time, and I'm willing to bet he does on occasion. Just probably not as often as many of us think.
