7. The engine's great, as is the interior
and most of the body. The driver's door was replaced and primered after some fuckpie smacked into me on election day 2004. :grr:

I've got the interior almost completely restored. All that's left is the headliner, but I'm not doing that until I build new speaker enclosures.

13. early one morning, after a very late night in Nashville
I was awakened at the house where I was staying by the most awful screeching noise you ever heard. I literally thought that either I was having some sort of aneurism or the world was ending. SCRREEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! SCREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Then it stopped for a few seconds. I was out in the hall by then, pulling my jeans on and trying to remember where the door was when it started up again. SCRREEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! SCREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! SCREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! I staggered out into the morning sunlight and saw the next door neighbor standing on top of his station wagon, a bottle of Jack Daniels between his feet, trying pretty successfully to cut through the top of the car with a chain saw. He stopped, took a pull from the bottle, saw me looking at him and waved. I waved back and asked, "What in the hell are you doing?"

He said, "I'm makin' me a El Camino."

25. I feel a song coming on...
This is my quest — to build me a truck
You might think it stupid; I don't give a fuck
To hack up my ride with a big power tool
To be willing to look like an ass so I'll have somethin' cool

26. We'll be watching someone in the studio trying for the 1000th time for the perfect take
on a track that will undoubtedly be zotzed in the mix, and we'll say . . .

"Don't stop him now. He's makin' a El Camino."

"To be willing to look like an ass so I'll have somethin' cool" --- wouldn't we all? wouldn't we all.
