I am embarrassed to admit that even though I've had the camera for a year now, I still don't know how to use the manual setting...:blush:

It is a very good camera........Every now and then I feel as though I am one with it....

it may be useful to sit down one day and read pieces of the manual and do a few experiments! It can make a difference in special cases. And if you want to do night pictures you'll need a tripod :) I studied the manual for mine during plane or train trips, when I did not know what else to do.

But it's just a matter of playing with it for a while. The best way is to have a very specific goal. So, you want to learn how to take pics without a flash? That's your goal, just read enough to learn how to do it. Next time perhaps you'll want to take pictures of things that move fast (just making it up) and before you know it you'll learn everything there is to know. And it's not boring because you find ways to achieve your immediate artistic goals!
That said, I'm barely more than a novice and I just got a light tripod for taking pictures at night. I find those fascinating. :)

for around $150, maybe even less. I figured it out in about half an hour...it's so fun and you can make dull photo's really interesting by just making a few changes.

I have so many memories....I lived in Hermosa on 2nd & Manhattan for many years. That was during happier times & I haven't grown past that yet.
