It was pretty minor, but I also hate going under. There was some residual soreness for a couple weeks after the surgery.

I hate the thought of being intubated, and demanded a local. I was awake but felt no pain. This was about 20 years ago.
Ask your doctor if you can't just have a local anesthetic.
