Does your gaydar break when you see a Femme Lesbian/Bi Girl? |
|
do you take it to a shop to repair it?
what do you do with your broken gaydar?
are you sure you are not confusing gender stereotypes with gayness or lack thereof?

1. I have a whole drawer full of burned out and broken gaydars. |
|
The shitty part is you can't throw them away because of the heavy metals, but recycling facilities are only found in LA, San Francisco, New York, and Provincetown. :banghead:

That's funny as hell.
Actually I heard the P-town facility is closed for the season. It should open up again in May.

*raises hand* confusing the stereotypes = wishful thinking.
What I've learned: make no assumptions; approach all with respect, as if they are part of some couple, regardless of who-with.

8. That's an awesome lesson to have learned. |

Wouldn't it be great if more people figured that out? :)

10. For a number of years I had the pleasure of working |
|
with one such hot "femme," and it was through that stop-my-animal-baseness work that I got the opportunity to know her on a better level, and which gave us grounding to be good (working) partners. It was a wonderful lesson, and I love her still...:)

And I say that you're all gay. Even you over there by the coffee machine.

6. I don't have a gaydar, not really...unless they a person acts in a stereotypical "gay" way |
|
i.e. flamboyance in men, flannel butchiness in women, I can't tell. Not that it really matters in the long run...I have a gf, so I don't hit on women anymore, and gay men never hit on me. I went to a gay club one time with my brother and his work mates (one of his work mates was gay and sponsored us), and I never got hit on at all. I guess I'm more attractive to women, for whatever reason.

15. I thought you were attractive in a picture you posted here at DU |
|
I suspect if you went to gay clubs a few more times (especially not with a group of people) or if you hung out in gay chatrooms and posted pictures of yourself while there you would get hit on.

7. My gaydar only works around other guys |
|
It's not a very strong gaydar to begin with. Mainly, I pick up on an overall "vibe" I'm receiving from the guy.
With women, however, it's useless. And I do know some very "femme" lesbians, too.

...if I posted a picture of every woman I'd ever... dated, the overconfidence of many self-proclaimed "gaydar" experts would be shattered.

12. I've broken quite a bit of gaydar. |
|
I've never been clocked by a gay person yet. So there must be scads of us out there. I identified as 'pure' (lol) lesbian for over a decade and always had to out myself to gay people. I have known so many women that don't fit the sterotype...more that don't than those that do, actually.
