You can go into "edit" and set some or all of the entries to "draft" -- that way you'll still have them, but they won't be visible to the public.
Not quite sure I understand your objective, though...

Depending on your web browser, you can probably save web archives of the blog archive pages, month by month.
On Mac there's a utility called "sitesucker" which can copy the contents of most webpages to your hard drive, HTML and images. Probably an equivalent on PC.
