How many of you are making your Thanksgiving dinners right now? |
|
I had to go over to my mom's and help her, we are having a HUGE meal tommorrow. She made the stuffing and warmed up the pies and she will get to work on the turkey tommorrow morning. Right now it's sitting in the tub in cold water.
I helped her peel the potatoes but ended up cutting myself, a little nick that ended up bleeding for an hour, just a teeny little cut!!
Oh and the brussels sprouts. I am so looking forward to this meal.

Enjoy your meal, it's bound to be good.
I have a feeling DU is going to be pretty empty tommorrow.

2. I've chopped the bread, celery, and onions for the stuffing |
|
and tossed the bread cubes with poultry seasoning. I have to break the work up, or my hand will get a cramp from all the chopping.

4. We're sort of technically a Canadian household |
|
Canada celebrates TG in October. The s.o. uses this as an excuse to hang back and lounge all day :D. I use it as an excuse to recover from whatever bender I usually indulge in on my birthday.
Have fun, y'all! :bounce: And a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

6. Shrimp on Thanksgiving? |
|
I never heard of that. My family usually has shrimp on New Years. Unless you have a unique recipe and tradition.

7. Shrimp's an appetizer for us |
|
So are the clams.
I made a bit of dinner tonight: two of the casseroles are done: sweet potato and green bean, they can be nuked with some finishes added at the last minute. My one daughter loves a seafoam jello salad that is finished.
I did a lot of chopping tonight - it's all bagged, seasoned and ready to mix tomorrow. Getting some of it done the night before is imperative for me or I am just nuts on the day.

13. My husband is Dutch and came without |
|
a Thanksgiving tradition. He thoroughly dislikes turkey so, over the years we've varied things to where our 'turkey' day is unrecognizable to most. :)
Some years we've had lamb, others we've gone out or had a special meat and cheese tray. This year it's meat and cheese and boiled shrimp with a bowl of homemade clam chowder.

9. Daughter is having eight adults and a bunch of children -- she does |
|
everything! She's amazing! She has a Kosher home, and I can't bring very much due to that fact. (I don't keep the Kosher laws.)
So, we'll bring the wine, and pay her back by taking her two kids off her hands on Friday afternoon and possibly overnight.
Babysitting in exchange for food... not a bad deal!
Wishing you the very best in the holiday season,

10. I've made the mashed potatoes, and the stuffing, |

and I don't know why. My younger sister insists that we do Thanksgiving. My Dad died in april, and the rest of our brothers, youngest sister, and inlaws have decided to skip it. I would love to spend the day at Barnes and Noble, but there you are. A sibling in need, so you go. Sometimes big family's suck.
