12. swag, I absolutely love the first one!
It's rough, graffiti-ish and gorgeous.

Here are three of the first paintings I ever made in 1999. They're hand-torn, hand-made paper and watercolor, based on the phrase, ". . . There's a piece that was torn from the morning and it hangs in the Gallery of Frost," from the Leonard Cohen song, "Take This Waltz," which itself was based on the Federico García Lorca poem, "Pequeño Vals Vienes."

14. Nice..
My aunt has a similar style. She has a different method. A method some might find gross.

**She is vegan**

She makes wire-frames and covers them with differing layers of strips of cow stomachs (for depth). Then she lets them dry and paints them. At first I was repulsed, then I saw one and they are actually cool. And they don't smell.

I'm not sure where she picked up on this technique. She does have a MFA.

15. I think you can do the same thing with drum skins.
A couple of years ago, I helped my mother-in-law make some ceramic drums. We bought the skins, cut to size, from a music instruments place; had to get them wet overnight and then stretch them. It got me to thinking about whether I could paint on them; never tried it though.

Hi, you!

which is the smallest state in the US. I was brought up to believe that anything further than 30 minutes was waaaaaay too far.

Where I live now, everything worth anything is at least 1/2 hour away. It's all perspective.

I really like your work, too. Visual art is so much like music, there's so many diverse media and styles to revel in!

Unfortunately, all of my other stuff has been lost through various moves over the course of my life. And I don't do as much as I should. Hopefully, one day, I'll have the time, space, and desire to allow myself to go back to drawing and painting as much as I did when I was younger.

40. My first and only:
"Baby Carmen" 18"x24" Acrylic on Canvas (1991?)

Inspired by a friend-of-a-friend's photo of their child. It came out of nowhere and I am no painter, but as I was not working for some 6 weeks and dirt poor I turned my attention to trying this for a whole summer...I enjoyed it quite a lot, and am unabashedly proud of it even with the cruder bits.

On the other hand...I love the ones that i see upthread, and am always so glad to see when someone begins a thread like this. Given my very limited collection I don't post every time, but I really like seeing everyone's art!
