SHWAUBENON — Three people were taken into custody this week after a fight in the stands of a hockey game at the Cornerstone Community Ice Center.

Five officers from Ashwaubenon Public Safety were sent to the center, 1640 Fernando Drive, around 9:25 p.m. Tuesday to break up a large fight between fans from the co-op hockey teams of De Pere and West De Pere high schools and the Bay Port club team, which is made up of students from the Howard, Suamico and Pulaski areas.

"It was right on the verge of going really, really bad or backing down" when police arrived, said Cmdr. Tim McNulty of Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department. "When officers got there it sounded like the people were getting separated, there was a lot screaming and finger pointing and screaming and yelling.

An officer prepared to use a Taser, but it was not activated, McNulty said.
