What time do you eat Thanksgiving dinner?

Mrs. ok_cpu's parents are not having us to dinner until 5:00... I say most people have Thanksgiving dinner before that.

1. I didn't vote in the poll, but

usually I plan for 1 or 2 and end up an hour later. We're getting ready to eat now.

2. We ate about 1:30. It's 3:30 now and I'm all done, kitchen cleaned up,

food put away for leftovers, and I'm ready for my nap! Happy Thanksgiving to those still celebrating!

3. I was shooting for 2:00, but it'll be more like 2:30 (It's 1:45 now).

I've got the potatoes on the stove right now, and the turkey is almost to temperature. It'll rest while I mash to potatoes, cook the green & wax beans, and make the gravy.

7. My family always liked it early so there was room for turkey sandwiches

later on in the evening. But today it was at four, and right now I can't even think about eating again until tomorrow. Well, maybe a little smidgen of pie later. :)

9. It seems to me that when I was growing up (I'm sixty now)

people used to eat Thanksgiving dinner at the noon meal and then sandwiches for supper. At least my family and all of my frinds. Now a days (don't I sound just like an old fart?) the dinner has gotten later and later, until it is more like a Thanksgiving supper. I remember mom used to get up before dark to put the turkey in so that as soon as the parade was over, everyone was gathering at the table. And after the dinner, we would go for a walk, or a hike in the woods near our house, to "get a little exercise." Now we say, "to burn off the calories." By the time it got dark, everyone was good and ready for the sandwiches.
