5. I just wished we would have had more. |
|
The turkey doesn't taste fried at all.
Just good.

Of course it is a little more greasy, but it tastes wonderful!

4. I am so sorry you didn't get your fried turkey. |
|
We should have had two of them but this was our first time, just a little scared.
We bought an electric model for $21, the peanut oil was about $21, it is not cheap but so worth it.

12. Oh hell. ELECTRIC. So did my friend Carl. |
|
I posted this elsewhere, but...
My buddy Carl down the street with the amazing outdoor kitchen has his cookers cranked up and ready to go. One propane, and one...ELECTRIC? Damn. That just ain't right.
It's completely silent and automatically maintains the proper temperature. No roaring propane burner and no open flame. And he got it at...WALMART. :-( No constant adjusting of the valve to keep the temp at 350. Where's the delicious feeling of high risk and danger in that? That subtle adrenalin rush?
Hell, now ANYBODY can deep fry a turkey. Your baby sitter. Little old ladies. 5 year old kids.
Carl was always my ideal of the mucho macho good ol' boy. Another icon gone. :-(

14. The thought of 3rd degree burns really got to me. |
|
Electric is the only way to go for us chickens.
Still we have to worry about fools who put to much oil in the pot, the fun is still there.
Good post there, hope you had a good day trof.

|
Dangerous but not really, if you know what you're doing. My husband pretty much has it down to a science.

10. AND I BET IT WAS DELICIOUS |
|
I think its a great way to make Turkey. We didn't have it this Thanksgiving, maybe for Christmas. I consider Fried Turkey a delicacy. I chuckle at those who ridicule the feast without having any knowledge of it except for occasional burnt down house.

Turkeys are still on sell, think I will go to the store and buy a few more.
Thinking of deep frying one tomorrow, didn't get very much fried turkey yesterday.

13. Run the oil through a cofee filter & reuse. |
|
Store in cool dark place. I get at least 2 fryings from a batch of oil. Not rancid at all. If you want more turkey, get a turkey breast. About 7 minutes a pound for bone in.

It's not all that much trouble to inject it and drop it in there.
