3. Oh, you knew! Well, it would have been good if I had gotten at least one wrong guess!
Egypt in 1984 -- this was taken on a 105 degree day with about 0% humidity.

The Holiday Inn that we stayed in was attacked in the 1990s and we don't know if it's even there anymore.

19. Another photo of the Holiday Inn in Giza, from the Internet.

Usually, I hope and pray that all of you could go to Egypt and see this amazing country. However, it is way too dangerous to do that now.

in the swimsuit!

Thanks, spillthebeans... and welcome to the DU!

Grandpa is working on scanning in more than a hundred pictures we took in Egypt. They've been in a leather backed photo album for 22 years and he's decided to put them into digital format. These pictures have held up very well considering all the time that's gone by.

I'll put up a link for anyone who might be interested.

Over and out.

and if I had married another Massachusetts native who DIDN'T MIND winter, I'd probably still be there.

But Grandpa was born there and in his 60s, just absolutely hated the snow. He hated driving in it, shoveling it, and most of all, he hated the unpredictability of the whole thing. During our work years, we had to drive in it and not know if we could safely get home or not. He calls winter "the season of death." So we followed a daughter out here to the West Coast. We've only had a few days of snow since we moved here 1998 -- the snow falls at the higher elevations and we're at 500 ft. in a valley between two mountain ranges, the Cascades and the Coastal ranges. I was pretty homesick for the first six months, but then we moved into our new home and it's been wonderful since then.

We did visit Bandon and saw the Bandon Dunes a few years ago. Did you get to Crater Lake Park? That was just amazing.

Thanks for your comments.

In peace,

Radio_Lady

PS. I was raised in Miami, Florida, and I've never been to Alabama!

9. Gorgeous pic, RL, but the location was too easy to figure out.
If there had been only one pyramid, and had it been blackened glass, I would have guessed Egypt. But alas, there are TWO pyramids in the background, obviously made of stone.

Still, nice pic!!

I'm going to try and post a link before Christmas.

17. Well, nothing is photoshopped here. The original is too old to be
photoshopped... both the woman and the pyramids.
