My Black Friday story. I went to the Ace Hardware in our little town.
They advertised portable DVD players, with accessories, for $69. My mom, who's out of town, asked me to please pick up two for Christmas presents, so I moseyed out of the house at 6:15 this morning, because the store was to open at 7.

I was the second in line. The guy in front of me was there to get two, too.

Then, this old jerk woman showed up, and got in line behind me. She asked me who I was, who my daddy was, and what I was there to buy. (!!!)

I told her who my dad was, and that's all I told her. So she asked me if I'm kin to Joe, who works at the Toyota place. I said yeah, he's my cousin. Then she asked me if I'm kin to Dave, and I said yeah, that's my brother.

OK...here I am talking to this pushy woman who's giving me the third degree, meanwhile she's TOUCHING me, and slapping me on my arm and shoulder while she's talking--and she never shut up--rude, nosey...just the kind of person I can't stand to be around. Even though I have a huge problem with people I don't know invading my personal body-space, buffer, I tolerated her. For a while.

So she said, in front of the dozen or so people who had lined up, who were also getting tired of her non-stop babbling and interruption of other conversations--so she said, "Well, I know your brother. He dated Debbie Smith, who is best friends with my daughter, for the longest time, and then she broke up with your brother and married your cousin Joe. I thought that was just horrible. How did your brother handle that--it must have been a terrible blow for him."

At that point, I turned around, faced her, looked her square in the eye, and I said, "You know, my family didn't see the break-up as a bad thing. Indeed, we still thank God every day that he didn't marry that bitch. From what I have heard, she's been busted for drugs, spent some time in jail, borrowed money from god and everyone to pay for several abortions, and can't hold a job. Indeed, Joe was glad to get rid of her, too. But thank you for your asking."

What is it with some people?? I don't know what drives them to be such assholes...on purpose.

Anyway, when I finished with her, she turned around and shut up. And the people who were close enough to hear what I said to her smiled at me as if to say Thank YOU for shutting her up.

An overperfumed, over-bejeweled, over make-upped, loudmouthed gossip monger. I put her in her place.

:D So, did anyone else do the Black Friday stuff today? If my mom hadn't asked me to hit Ace, I wouldn't have. But I'd fetch the moon and stars for my mom. :)

5. I probably could have handled it...
and just kept my mouth shut, had she not patted and prodded and pushed me with her stubby, fat, dark red tipped fingers. I just cannot stand to be touched by strangers. Gives me the shivers and sends me into fight-or-flight mode.

:)

3. LOL
I didn't know the woman. Never saw her in my life before. She doesn't know me...doesn't even know my brother except to know that he dated her daughter's friend, what, two decades ago??

In the past, I've felt kinda bad when I've told someone off. But this woman. I was absolutely giddy inside after I slammed her. I even called my mom, who's the biggest peace keeper I know, to tell her about it, and she gave me a verbal pat on the back.

:D

:hi: !!

Thank God I haven't picked up my coffee cup yet or this screen would be history.

6. Hopefully it won't be so bad up there.
This woman was a "southern princess" of an old lady who thinks that everyone wants to hear what she says, when they're not answering her intrusive questions or fending off her pokes and prods.

Y'all don't have many of those up there, do ya?

13. I come from a small town in New England
One thing I love about small towns is that everyone knows you.

One thing I hate about small towns is that everyone knows you. Or thinks they do. :eyes:

14. I haven't been out of the house yet.
Edited on Fri Nov-24-06 11:49 AM by Opposite Reaction
I plan to go to the auto parts store for a timing belt, some oil, some coolant and get a water valve from the hardware store and come home. I'd rather spend the rest of the day with an inanimate truck than with shoppers.
:scared:
Edit: spelling.
