Anybody else working today?
I work out of my house anyways but today has been a great day for catching up on several jobs as all of my client's offices are closed. No pesky emails or phone calls so I'm getting a lot done at a relaxed pace.

3. I probably would be "working it" but....
Mrs. DTW had to work today :-(
So I chose to work and make a little cash as being self-employed means paying my own holiday pay.

9. Sympathy if I've ever heard it.
 It's good financial sense, and good partnership sense if you work when she has to and enjoy more subsidized fun together later...good bonding.

I'm here at the office. People still get sick, even over the holidays. :)

7. Laid off all week.
Back to work (and $) beginning Monday. It's like that throughout the year: around a dozen such unemployed weeks...it's with plenty of notice, and just part of the biz. I have to do background work though, to keep up, but like yours today it is at a leisurely pace and timeframe.

Enjoy the lull, DaveTheWave! :hi:

12. Thanks Drum
I'm fearing a slow-down as it has always been slow around the holidays with people waiting to begin new projects after Christmas or at the beginning of the new year.
I hope your days off have been good for you too as far as getting the blood pressure down and recharging your body's inner and mental batteries :hi:

14. Yes, very good time off...
absolutely for recharging! I can accept the $ hit I take, if I just exploit the time in other ways. Sounds like we both have to deal with seasonal ebbs and tides.

11. Perhaps I should have...
I would've gotten double time plus regular time at work today...but I didn't feel like working.

16. One time...
There was a big oil spill in the river during the Christmas holiday which fell on a weekend that year and I was asked if I could join a team to survey the damage along the shoreline. Back then all my immediate family members lived out of town but had all made it to my home that year which was an extremely rare occasion and some had gone through a lot of effort to be there at the same time as the others. I didn't want to go but when I mentioned the double overtime along with the vacation pay I could make they all said, "Are you crazy?" for not wanting to go. Each explained that they could still be spending time with the others there so I changed my mind and went. I took someone else's place who they called after me and he was very happy to go back home.

13. I was called in...
The rest of the world doesn't observe our Thanksgiving or "Black Friday," so when things break someone needs to fix them. That someone would be me. (I'm logged in here while waiting to see if the fix holds.)
