Watching this Texas v. Texas A&M game is depressing me.
This has been one of those years, but one of the bright spots has been the 2006 Rose Bowl, Vince Young, and my Texas Longhorns.

This season has not been the same. At all. I guess it's a "building year." (snort)

So I'm watching A&M in the Texas red zone with about 3 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Oh dear.

Oh wait, A&M just scored - 13 to 7.

Mr. Writer took the option of sleeping through the game. I sort of wish I had done the same.

1. Hell, I graduated from A&M and forgot the damn game was on.

I was busy with other stuff until just now.

Color me shocked the score isn't MUCH worse. Damn, ol' Fran might keep his job yet. x(

Also of course now that I turned the game on, things will go downhill...

2. I get the feeling Texas didn't want to play for the championship this year.
I think they're playing for a break. The defense looks like they'd rather be fishing at the moment. :P

3. Well, hell...see? Now I done ruined it all...
I changed the channel. I'll just wait for the results. I'm guessing our defense will change what they've been doing all game and allow Texas to go right down the field and score. (See: Nebraska)

4. Will you perform the painful duty of watching the rest?
I have switched to the Science Channel now, if that's any indication.

5. I turned back to see a replay of an Aggie intercepting a pass.
:53 left, Colt McCoy not looking so happy.

Holy shit, how'd we pull THIS off? Lose by 1 to OU and Nebraska at home; beat Texas on the road. :wtf:

6. Well, we didn't get a first down.
Looks like we're punting the ball back to you guys. Should be about, oh, 30 seconds left when you take over.

7. I think Texas lost their spirit two weeks ago.
That loss to K-State was hard... although I can't shake the reality that Colt was out after the first drive and even with the untested true freshman second stringer in, Texas still managed to pull within three. I didn't really consider it a huge upset for K-State, especially since it was on their home turf. Oh well. (sigh) The Big 12 as a conference is EXTREMELY weak, especially after watching that 70-3 rout last year when Texas beat Colorado in the Big 12 champ game. It's sad Texas hasn't had better competition with real ranked teams to force them to play a better game.

Oh man, Oklahoma must be jumping for joy.

8. Well, their pass defense let them down against K-State.
They were able to cover that weakness up most of the year by playing great run defense. Colt McCoy might be hurt again.

9. That's true. Two injured secondaries make for a weakened pass defense.
Colt might be injured again? Crap, this is like back when Major Applewhite (aka Opie) injured himself and had to hand the reigns to Chris Simms (spits on the ground).

he may have a bad concussion. :( They just carted him off the field.

12. Oh that's awful.
Earlier in the season when Texas played Oklahoma, I saw his parents in the stands. I had to laugh, because it looked like a replay of the Ricky Bobby movie.

"If you're not first, you're last, Colt!"

That poor kid. He can't be any older than 19 and he's already getting wounded. Texas ought to just pack up and take a rest this season off, get some fresh legs in the defense and go for it next year.

15. Well, after the interception, I think he was headed toward the sideline,
and looked as though he was taking his helmet off while the play was live and he got clocked. I really do hope he isn't seriously injured. He's a good kid and a great player. He has that Major Applewhite thing about him.

20. As an opponent, Major Applewhite scared me more than Simms.
Just from an emotional standpoint. :D

22. It's because Major was a much better QB, obviously!
I live in CO now and met someone who was at school at Colorado at that time. I think they have an altar erected in Chris Simms' honor. :P

23. LMAO!!!
Interestingly enough, as wimpy as Simms was made out to be (especially by Mack sometimes), he's turned out to be pretty tough. Playing through a ruptured spleen. Ouch. But, he still sucks. :P

If they do, they're in the Big 12 Championship game.

frankly I hope they win. I don't want Texas to go to the Big 12 champ game.

24. Damn that hit on McCoy to which I previously referred was WAY dirty.
The A&M player was thrown out of the game. I hope he's dismissed from the team, or at least suspended. No room for that stuff at all.

25. What did you think of RC Slocum?
I personally thought he was overrated as a coach, but that they kept him on for tradition. That was also back in the SWC when A&M was one of the Big Dawgs.

26. Good guy. Mediocre coach.
Very little personal gravitas, which led to him being out-recruited horribly.
