I just got back from seeing "Bobby" |
|
It's funny how one of those movies that you know it's going to end will still leave you in tears at the end of it. I've been wanting to see this movie for months now and despite what some reviews say, it was a really good movie. At first I was wondering what they were going to do with such a large cast but by the end they all just tied in so well. It definitely left me with the feeling that our lives are all connected and how one event can change everything. The acting was great (I usually can't stand Lindsay Lohan but she was good, so don't let her stop you from seeing this) so was the directing. Just an overall good film, and let me say that it is damn near impossible to get me choked up at a movie so when it happens that's saying something.

1. Does an actor portray Bobby? |
|
From the previews, it looks like he only appears as newsreel footage...

2. I think they have an actor portraying him at a distance. |
|
And they show him in newsreel clips.

3. An actor does portray him |
|
but he's only seen out of focus and from behind, I think he says one line...something like "Thank you sir" to the doorman.
I don't know if I would have liked to see an actor portray him in this movie because so far I've never seen an actor portray RFK right on screen. I think it was best that they used the archival footage and let RFK "speak for himself"

4. I cant wait to see the movie |
|
You are absolutely right, I cant see a person or actor taking his place. My very first vote as a US citizen was for RFK in the primary here in California. I stayed up until midnight waiting for him to come and speak to us, but I had to go to work in the morning so I went to bed before he was murdered. He would have made a great President. My beloved mother-in-law (and I mean this sincerely) I had a lovely mother-in-law, she woke me up at 3:00 California time but 6:00 Virginia time and told me this horrible news.

5. I was in fifth grade and voted for him in our school's election |
|
I actually had to stand in front of the school body and argue why I felt he was the best choice. He won. Stupid kid story, I never knew my father and when I was little I made believe that JFK was my father.

6. I saw it this afternoon |

I haven't cried that much in a movie in ages. Make sure you bring lots of Kleenex with you if you see it -- and you all definitely should see it.
I cried so much not just because Bobby was murdered, but also because of what his murder took away from our country. I always thought that we lost so much when we lost JFK, but we maybe even lost more when we lost Bobby -- his idealism and desire to bring people together and end the war and so much more. Had he lived, he would have been elected and our country would be so different today. Nixon never would have been president. We would have started working on global warming during Bobby's presidency (there's a clip of him talking to school children in 1968 about global warming) and so many of today's problems would not exist. It's so good that RFK, Jr. is taking up some of the issues he stood for, but it's so much later that I hope it's not too late for the world.
