My husband is a NUT, or could write the book on "How to embarrass your kids"

It's basically the middle of the night as I write this -- 2 am.

The husb got a call from his overly-dependent son (30 years old) whose car broke down. Needed a ride home for him and his friends, cause they wouldn't all fit in the tow truck.

Husb gets ready to go out in his shorts (it's 36 degrees outside!). I said he should embarrass his son somehow, and suggested he wear a hat he has that looks like an old taxi driver's; couldn't find it at the moment. He asked if I had a tiara; not sure where it is, either. "How about your cat ears?" Well yeah, I wear those every Halloween and always know where they are, but what do they have to do with this? "Nothing." So he put on the cat-ears headband and left, in his shorts, with a cigar. I dared him to keep them on.

He just called, on his way home. Yup -- he kept them on, got out of the car, and engaged in a serious discussion about the car's problems with son, friends, and tow-truck driver. Nobody asked about the cat ears, commented on the cat ears, or made it very obvious that they noticed the cat ears.

I guess you just don't ask a gruff old guy in shorts, smoking a cigar, why he has cat ears on his head.

As he left, he said to the tow truck driver, "Never trust an old guy wearing shorts and cat ears." The driver said, "Hey man, I trust you more than the drunks I usually pick up at this time of night."

Hopefully, the son won't call again anytime soon.

2. Your husband has a great sense of humor. We have these friends who are
already plotting how they are going to embarass their three daughters when they get older.

They already have matching sweatshirts and matching sweaters!!

It's _mine_, damnit.

(I've always wanted a tiara _and_ opera gloves. No idea _why_ I want them, but I do. :P )

5. Is he funny?
Does he act like a clown?

On the plus side a 30 year old 'kid' does not embarrass as easily as a 13 year old kid.

6. Your husband is a funny guy.
Even though, his son probably didn't appreciate it at the time.... ;)

7. If he and his buddies weren't embarrassed to call mommy and daddy instead of dealing
with it themselves, I doubt shorts and cat ears would do the trick.

15. yeah, but they'd be more embarrassed if he didn't pick them
up at all!

my dad still occasionally has to drive somewhere to get a grown kid who is in trouble. So we don't care which goofy hat and yardsale t-shirt he has on....

16. Freaking hilarious, but I bet the son already warned his friends...
"Hey, if he shows up wearing a prom gown, just ignore it."
