Just got hit with bad news upon coming home from work.

Last night, a friend of my husband's was driving hime from Thanksgiving dinner. They were involved in an auto accident. His friend is alright. Unfortunately, his friend's wife was killed in the crash. I don't have any info regarding a viewing of funeral. Some good thoughts or prayers would appreciated now. Thanks.

19. All you can do is be there for the family

They're in shock and probably not keeping up with everyday life at the moment. Offer to notify people, to take care of any children who might be involved, to bring food, to field phone calls, whatever needs to be done.

One of the nicest thing that happened after my father died, and we were all at my brother's house in Minneapolis worn out from traveling and planning the funeral and everything, was that a friend of my brother's then-fiancee sent us a deli tray. We nibbled off it for a couple of days and didn't have to worry about cooking.
