Anyone here read "Kite Runner" ...... |
|
Well - went for a walk this morning around Lake Elizabeth in Fremont, Ca. (mentioned in the book) and was truly thrilled to see all of the ducks, geese, mud hens, egrets and seagulls enjoying themselves there. Whenever some of the geese would take flight, it was just beautiful. I love the 'honking' sounds and watching the birds paddling around the lake. What a refreshing thing to do. Makes the soul glad. Sorry I didn't have my camera with me. Hope you all are having an equally good day.

5. I especially loved the cultural things I learned |
|
Also the author (Amir) was so honest about everything which included his weaknesses. We all have them. But it isn't easy to put them right out there in print.
Amir finally made peace with himself and I'm very happy for him. It was a very good memoir.

I will check my library. Although it takes them freakin forever!!!!!!.... to get a book.
I've read good reviews about "The Liars Club" but it was quite some time ago. Hopefully they have one or both by now. Thanks for the tip!

doing OK, working hard, getting ready for the holidays,
my husband will be here for the whole month of December, most likely, and our daughter is moving back in to her old room in January. No longer just me and the kitties.
I have lost 40 pounds since I last saw you!
Hooray for Weight Watchers.
Good to hear from you!

9. Many parts of that book left me an emotional wreck... |
|
If I'd known about much of the content, I might not have read it. But I would be sorry if I hadn't. It's beautifully written, and offers much food for thought.

11. It's a brutal and tender story. I'm glad that I read it. I always think |
|
about the kite fights when I walk Lake Elizabeth. It is a very culturally diverse place. Some mornings I see a group of Asian women and men doing tai chi with Chinese music playing in the background. I always see Indian/Pakistani/Afghani people there with their children. I do see kite-flying as well. I'm glad that you were able to get through the book and appreciate it. Have you read anything lately that you would recommend?

15. Read it last winter and loved it |
|
It's actually a work of fiction. A wonderful story of a friendship that transcended class. I think that one of the boys was Shia and the other Sunni?
