Did you know that the video version of the Disney film "The Rescuers" was recalled because...

it had the image of a topless woman in TWO NON-CONTINUOUS FRAMES of the film?

This is true!

Here's the background story from snopes.com:

Claim: The photographic image of a topless woman can be spotted in the background of The Rescuers.
Status: True.
Origins: On 8 January 1999, Disney announced a recall of the the home video version of their 1977 animated feature "The Rescuers" because it contained an "objectionable background image." Approximately 38 minutes into the film, as rodent heroes Bianca and Bernard fly through the city in a sardine box strapped to the back of Orville, proprietor of Albatross Air Charter Service, the photographic image of a topless woman can be seen at the window of a building in the background in two different (non-consecutive) frames: first in the bottom left corner, then at the top center portion of the frame. (Click on each image below to view an enlargement of the frame.)

Here's the link to the pictures and the rest of the story. See it for yourself. Not sure the moderators would allow the links to the offending frames!

Wow, the things you learn on the Internet! I have never heard of this after decades of movie reviewing!

In peace,

PS. If you've forgotten this movie completely, here is the information on the original:

1. Two frames -- that would make it 1/12 of a second?

3. That's pretty funny
Who would even notice it?

When I was doing some animation way back when, I put a belly button on Yogi Bear for several frames. As far as I know no one ever noticed it.

4. How ridiculous and wasteful to recall these films on this basis.
What exactly, is so terrible about breasts so as to justify this waste. I mean this stuff goes into landfills, it costs money to transport.

I have watched this film with my boys several times. If our versions had this, we never would have noticed. In any case both of my boys breast fed until they were three. They are hardly terrified by breasts.

This country is crazy.

9. Not a clue. Still discussing this after more than thirty years!
We used to discuss breastfeeding on the MBTA in Boston -- that was eons ago on my radio program "Boston Forum" in the early 1970s.
