I have a hard time. It's not that I don't get it, I'm just stubborn I guess.
I get it. I can take a hint.

1. No. Things must be spelled out for me. I'm rather thick. |
|
Fortunately I'm rather tough (thick) emotionally.

2. I miss hints a lot of times |
|
I'm very literal so when people hint, I often miss it. I prefer to be told outright. My second husband was flirting with me for weeks before I even realized that's what was going on - I just thought he was a nice guy (as it turned out, I was wrong there too, but that's another story).
I don't get hurt by brutal truth - I prefer it because I just don't get hints.

if romantic feelings are not involved, then yes i can take a hint.
i've never been any good at the subtle 'i like you' hints.

10. . . . thou art too dear for my possessing, |
|
And like enough thou know'st thy estimate: The charter of thy worth gives thee releasing; My bonds in thee are all determinate. For how do I hold thee but by thy granting? And for that riches where is my deserving? The cause of this fair gift in me is wanting, And so my patent back again is swerving. Thyself thou gav'st, thy own worth then not knowing, Or me, to whom thou gav'st it, else mistaking; So thy great gift, upon misprision growing, Comes home again, on better judgment making. Thus have I had thee as a dream doth flatter— In sleep, a king; but waking, no such matter.

And I yell "Then why didn't you just say that?" My husband's mother is the queen of passive aggressive and my husband picked up some of it from her. It drives me crazy. I am usually more direct.

Sometimes my first clue is when I'm either kissed, hugged, or punched in the face.
Life with people is full of surprises.
I enjoy the internet because I can take as long as I need to figure out what people are saying.

if you've lived long enough, you can mostly predict the response . . . a hint give folks time to sort out their answer, maybe control the tenor of the response

14. I *want* to take the hint. |
|
But depending upon what I want to hear, it's possible that I won't get it. Once I do, I will play along; I promise you that.
