Whenever it snows I get this overwhelming urge to bake.
Not cook, bake. I want to make cookies, my aunts cottage cheese dill bread, and a crisp would be nice.

:wtf:

I have no ingredients to make such things, or the time to make them all, I just want to make them.

1. I can relate to that
There's something about snowfall and the smell of baking, the warm kitchen and the chilly outdoors that's just right.

I also love to quilt in the winter. Warm fire, sewing in lap. Makes me feel like a pioneer woman.

3. I never learned to knit
Always wanted to. I learned to sew when I was just a little kid - my mom sewed all our school clothes. But I hated it until I took up quilting. I love to quilt - the whole process of creating something beautiful from nothing really jazzes me. Somehow I never got that out of making clothes.

4. I find knitting really relaxing.
It's easy to learn. Then you can make scarfs, those things are a snap. I have yet to really attempt anything big yet, like a sweater.

39. Here you go!
Here's a closeup on the stitch, but the color is waaay off, due to the flash. It's really Olive Green. Also, it looks wrinkly, b/c it's been in the closet in a box of winter stuff until a minute ago.

And here's the man himself, modeling it for you :D

27. OK! Here we go:
1 pkg yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 cup cottage cheese (heat to luke warm)
2 T. sugar
1/2 T. instant minced onion
1 T. butter
1 unbeaten egg
2 Tsp. Dill Weed
1 Tsp. Salt
1/4 Tsp. Baking Soda
2 1/4 cups flour

Dissolve the yeast in the water. Combine the cottage cheese, sugar, onion, butter, dill, salt, soda, egg, and yeast. Add the flour to form stiff dough (sometimes you have to add a little extra). Knead.
Then let it rise in a bowl for 50-60 minutes, or until it's double. Punch it down and transfer it to a well greased 8 inch casserole dish and let it rise again for 30-40 minutes.

Bake at 300 for 40-50 minutes, or until brown. :hi:

55. I wanna make this! But what is "instant minced onion"? and
where might I find it in an average grocery store?

And, when it's transferred to an 8-inch casserole dish - could I put it in a loaf pan instead? Or should it just be baked as a flattish bread, or what? I have never made bread at home, so need a little advice on mundane bread-making tasks...

Thanks!

58. I use regular dried minced onion.
You just get it where all the other jared herbs are.

You knead it into a ball, and it stays in that form. You could try putting it into a bread pan.
