I read 'Red dragon' by Thomas Harris last night.
I'm trying to avoid 'Silence of the lambs' but it's too late, i've already read one chapter off of it. :scared:

Sickest thing in that book. Oh, but the scissor part was probably worse though. :hide:

3. I read "Silence" first.
That aroused my curiosity about Harris and when I saw a paperback that said "by the author of Silence of the Lambs", I picked it up.

About halfway into it I began to think "Hold it. This is a BOOK. A guy WROTE it. Made it up out of his head. What kind of a sick, twisted m.f. can come up with something this depraved?"

Later I read an interview with Harris.
The interview took place in Harris's home.
The interviewer and Harris (and his wife) got on so well they had drinks, and then dinner, and the guy spent the night!
Said Harris was one of the most charming, generous, warm and entertaining guys he'd ever met.
Go figure.

4. Have you ever read the sick twisted shit from Stephen King?
And he's the nicest guy in the world. People write about the sick twisted shit so that they don't do it in real life.
And I love those books. They are great. Now, go read Hannibal! You won't be sorry.

6. Oh I've read Hannibal.
And seen the movie.
King's stuff is more supernatural.
Not 'real people' situations.
Harris's tales are here and now, crime scene stuff.

Harris's type of creepy.

7. Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs (books) were both better
than the movies.

Nothing could make Hannibal credible or worth the time I wasted reading it.

12. I thought it was pretty much the same.
There is only so much you can do when you make a movie to copy off a book.

13. True, but 'Silence' was better.

IMHO
:-)
Hannibal was to make a 'kinder, gentler' monster?
Fiend as misunderstood human?
I dunno.

15. Oh, I really like the movie (but the book was better because it
can provide so much more). Silence of the Lambs that is.

Edward Norton in Red Dragon was good but the book was soooooo much spookier, especially the way he describes Dollarhyde.

Hannibal just plain sucked. I didn't see the movie because the book was just so, so...disappointing.

14. There's a new one coming out soon
That will cover Lecter's young adult years in Europe, I believe. (Saw it in one of the review mags I get at work.)
