2. "Tomorrow Never Dies", one of the best Bond theme songs ever,
and "Strong Enough", with harmonies by the Dixie Chicks.

Both songs totally don't suck and I'll fight you on that.

4. "Strong Enough" is a trifle shrill, don't you think?
Chicks notwithstanding.

And "The Spy Who Loved Me" sort of embodied the classic bombastic Bond brouhaha better IMO...

8. I never thought it shrill. What strikes me is the utter pain in the song.
Someone who will say: "Lie to me, I promise I'll believe. Lie to me, but please don't leave." is in incredible pain. It kills me a little.

Plus I love the steel guitar. Steel guitar is wasted on country music. It sounds a lot better in rock and pop.

11. Steel guitar is great for blues, too, insofar as I'm any judge
But the sheer repetitiveness of "are you {blank} enough to be my man" gets to me after a few dozen cycles.

6. What's funny about that...
Is that, compared to pretty much anything on mainstream air these days, "All I Wanna Do" does sound like a good song. But then, a bop on the head would feel pretty good after being kicked in the stomach all day, so...

A duet with Emmylou Harris on the Gram Parsons tribute CD. I'm not a big fan but her voice mixed with Emmylou's is absolutely beautiful

Worth checking out perhaps if you're a fan of hers.

17. ah, there are folks who sing much worse songs than hers
She's a well-known, over 40, female artist with a great voice, who plays her own instruments and isn't a twit.

That should count for something.

18. Didn't she cover "Sweet Child O' Mine" recently?
I didn't think that song could get any worse than the original.

I think that she's also a skilled producer, which is no mean feat in any case. But sometimes her voice and lyrics are close to unbearable for me. Witness her effort in the opening of the film Cars. Dreadful!

but that's just me

I do think her voice is VERY mediocre, a million women in this world could sing just as good, imo.

31. The Difficult Kind!!!!!
Oh ballbreaking moon and ridiculing stars
The older I get, the closer you are
Don't you have somewhere that you need to be
Instead of hanging here making a fool of me

If you could only see
What love has made of me
Then I'd no longer be in your mind
The difficult kind
But you won't see the change in me
If you could only see
What love has made of me
But I'll forever be in your mind
The difficult kind
But you won't see, no you won't see
The good in me
But babe I've changed
Cause babe I've changed

The entire Wildflower CD. The entire Globe Sessions CD. Most of the C'mon, C'mon CD, Most of the Tuesday Night Music Club CD, Most of the Sheryl Crow CD. OK I just like Sheryl Crow sue me.

33. "Anything But Down".
But not the album version, the acoustic one.

...you with your silky words
and your eyes of green and blue
you with your steel beliefs
that don't match anything you do
it was so much easier before you became you...
