OK parents: how do you get pee out of a mattress??
I just adopted a 13-yr-old poodle who's owners died. And I just found out that she's not exactly continent when she gets excited. So she jumps up on the bed when I get home and just lets loose. I don't even think she knew what happened.

So, do I need to buy a new mattress?

1. Pretty much...
You can try dousing the spot with vinegar to help neutralize the ammonia in the urine, but honestly..I think you're just going to have to replace the mattress...and make sure you cover that one with a rubber sheet. :hi:

2. You need to go to a hardware store and get a cleaner made
for getting bodily fluid stains out. It's bacteria and urine salt crystals in the pee that causes the lingering smell.

7. "Nature's Micracle" or "Simple Solution" -- they really work
Edited on Mon Nov-27-06 11:00 PM by Lex
and I had to battle the urine stains/smells from 2 male indoor cats marking against each other for a couple of years.

It will work on people urine or poo stains or smells too (or so says the label).

It's a clear liquid that you saturate on the spot, let it dry. If necessary, treat again. The stain and smell will be gone.

You can even wash clothes or soak something in it that the cat or dog or baby has peed on.

PetSmart or PetCo has it.

12. You can try dilute bleach (clorox) in a spray bottle
- it will kill the odor but it may fade any color if that matters to you.

16. whoa, you gotta take that girl out for a whole lot of walks!@
I bet she settles down after a time. She has had some major trauma, moving and all and losing the people she loved.

And I agree with the others, Nature's Miracle
