Does anybody else browse personals for fun?
I went through a breakup of a seven year relationship only 3 months ago, so I know I shouldn't even be thinking of dating again yet. However, I do find the personals interesting and entertaining. It's a way to see what type of people are out there all these years later. The problem is I have seen a couple of ads that I would have answered with a vengeance had I been ready to date. It's frustrating, because it's so tempting to just go ahead and answer one when it's somebody that seems extremely compatible (pretty rare for me). The crazy thing is, some dating sites will make you register and put up a profile just to browse. I did this with Yahoo, but made my profile "unsearchable". They still do send "matches" every few days, and while most of them are totally incompatible, a couple have really caught my eye and I've thought "If only the timing were different.." Damn! I had insomnia last night, so I had better get to bed!

2. Once in awhile, on Craigslist
It's fun to see what kinds of eediots are out there, wondering why they can't "hook up" with somebody.

3. If you're a guy it's a form of self-abuse.
I can't speak for the ladies. As a guy I find this about as helpfull as the 900-sexx phone call ads on late night tv.

Try to restrain yourself unless you are buff and earn six figures.

4. The entertainment value is limitless
The only people who aren't shallow or pr0nbots will likely never actually contact each other because they won't see each other's ad. I particularly like the women who have "SICK OF GAMES!!!!!" or some variant as a headline, then write their ad so as to attract the same kind of good-looking arrogant asshole that they got in the first place. Good thinking!

5. The most ridiculous thing I see is when women have salary requirements!

Probably about as shallow as one can get, and lots of women seem to have them. What's amazing is when a beautiful, interesting woman doesn't have that kind of requirement, and then you see a woman who isn't very attractive or interesting demanding at least $75,000 a year! Even if I were a millionaire, I would NEVER answer an ad with a salary requirement!
