Meeting my birth son
Here's the report on my meeting with John yesterday. It went very well. We met at a burger place. I was about 20 minutes early, so met him when he pulled up. I got a hug even before he got out of the car. We spent about 30 minutes at the burger place. He asked me a lot of questions about his biological father, who died when he was 10 years old. I also found out that his brother who is 14 months younger than John is not adopted like him. His adoptive mom got pregnant 5 months after they adopted John. I had always thought they were both adopted.

We then went to a small park near the Galleria and took some photos. Here they are:

It was a really great meeting - I didn't cry or faint or anything and we both were really comfortable with each other from the very start. We spent a little over an hour together, which was fine for the first meeting. I do think he will want to see me again. He said his adoptive parents want to meet me as well. So maybe the next trip we will all meet together.

14. Is that a pair of giant metal spider legs in the photo background?
Those are huge and creepy! What are they?
:)

I'm glad that went well for you. I imagine that was extremely scary going into it.

15. metal spider legs
They are some type of decorative thing going over the roadway. There are several of them down this street. I found a picture here.

Although they do kinda look like legs from the angle I shot it from.

22. I'm glad your meeting went well.
I've been thinking a lot about my biological parents. Unfortunately, I don't have the $$$ to sue the State of NJ in order to unseal my file.

My adoptive parents had a similar thing happen to them. THey had tried for years to have children, but were unsuccessful. Once they adopted me, my mother immediately got pregnant and 10 months after I was adopted, my sister was born. I hear this phenomenon happens quite often to adoptive parents.

43. Thank you for sharing this. What an awesome moment for both of you.
After reading about war all day, it salves a little of my bruised humanity to hear stories like this (even if you both were being stalked by a giant metal spider :) ). He's a handsome young fella and you should be commended for braving what must have been a daunting moment. Looking at the two of yall side by side, I wouldn't have thought "mother and son", but brother and sister (I'm guessing you were quite young). But the resemblence is clear.
