DOH! Can Any Computer Experts Help Me Out With Something |
|
Yesterday I was cleaning up my computer and deleting programs I don't use. Today I turned on the computer and I'm not getting any sound at all.
Could I have accidentially deleted whatever controlls the sound on my computer?
What should I do?
Help!
Please!

Go to your control panel (Start button->Control Panel), then click on "Sound, Speech, and Audio Devices". First, check to make sure you haven't muted the system by going to "Adjust the System Volume". If that doesn't work, you're probably going to need some hands-on help in downloading drivers. It'd be much too awkward to just post. I can't use instant messenger, but perhaps someone else here might be able to.

I don't know how that could have happened. I don't remember deleting anything that had to do with sound yesterday.

6. I'd take it in for service. |

Honestly, it's going to be awfully difficult for anyone to help you remotely, especially judging from your lack of computer knowledge (which isn't anything to be ashamed of, it's just that whomever is helping you will have to REALLY explain every little step. It could take hours or days to fix something that will likely take someone about 5 minutes hands-on). It'll be much better for your sanity to just take the thing in to Geek Patrol or something like that.

3. Sometime also a cold-rebot help. |

Just because windoz sux. Always worth a shot before you do any crazy driver stuff. Just turn off the computer, wait 30 secs and power on again.
If that doesn't work, I recommend posting this issue in the computer forum. Make sure to have your motherboard model handy, as that way people can point you to your appropriate drivers.

5. If you use Windows, try System Restore |
|
Start- All Programs- Accessories- System Tools- System Restore.
Then restore your system to a checkpoint prior to your activities yesterday.
Good luck!

Well, it's not a real computer thread unless somebody posts this.
