Christie's auctioning Britney Spears junior high term paper on Antigone
Britney's literary legacy up for auction: At an upcoming auction of celebrity memorabilia, Christie's will try to sell off a charming junior-high paper by Britney Spears on Sophocles' "Antigone." (The auction house's Web site gives the item an estimated value of $500-$700). She gets good comments on her organization but points taken away for poor penmanship and spelling mistakes like "Their was a roomer about her burying her bother ..." Overall grade: 88. (ONTD, Christie's)

1. An 88 for a paper that says 'hisself'?
That teacher did her no favors. (Did not correct "get's" either)

11. Also "suppose to"
"The king's son is suppose to" didn't get a correction. The teacher must have been pretty tired when s/he got to that one, or just felt sorry for Britney and decided to not make her feel too bad.

12. The teacher couldn't spell, either.
I wonder if teachers' language ability is commensurate with their salary.

7. When does the word "gets" require an apostrophe? When you're Britney Spears.

This is a grammar nazi's worst nightmare.

9. She was in JHS in the mid 1990's...couldn't she have typed this paper?
I mean personal computers had only been around for a coupla years. I'm sure she could have gotten her hands on a PowerMac or something instead of subjecting her teacher to that awful bubble-shaped script.

14. Education should not require the capital to own a machine.
Unless everyone is given a machine by the state there should be no advantage to one student owning a machine when all cannot afford a machine. That's Fascism.

10. I expected the opening sentence to be something like...
"Anti-gone was this girl who didn't wanna go anywhere."

16. I remember reading that she attended a really small Christian
(seg.) academy during part of her school years. That paper might be from that time period. Schools like that aren't known for their high standards.
