Just finished an amazing pageturner ......
"Middlesex" bye Jeffrey Eugenides. Didn't want it to end. I will keep Cal in my heart forever and hope he finds his way through a very happy life.
Sigh.

2. That story was good on so many different levels.
Immigrants in America - Inbreeding - Social stereotypes - timeline through recent Am. History.
Jeez - it had it all.

3. Yep
Basically The Invisible Man with contemporary gender issues susbstituted for race issues.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and, upon finishing it, was (and still am) pretty sure that that's the only book in the last decade or so that will absolutely, positively be in the literary canon in about 20 years.

5. Now I'm afraid to begin a new book ....
After finishing such a good one - I feel as if the next book I pick up won't compare. I hope I'm wrong.

7. I was chatting about that a few minutes ago with a friend - she saw the
movie and said it was 'weird'. I haven't seen it, but will probably check the book out.

8. I just finished it, too - on Sunday. Sent it on to a friend
today.

Really wonderful book. I read tons of books, some just as diversions where the characters fade quickly, but I can imagine remembering Cal and Tessie and Milton and Desdemona for a loooonnng time, and wondering about them.

9. Yes.
I was really sad to have turned to the last page. I want to KNOW MORE. And, I was happy to have my internal question regarding Chapter Eleven's name revealed at the end. I thought I had missed something somewhere in the beginning.
