It's a lousy day here. It's -28 degrees (-41 with wind chill) and my

husband is being an ass. Okay, maybe it's a half-and-half situation on who is being the ass, but he is on my last nerve.

The bank screwed up on 2 transactions and I had to make a second trip there to straighten it out. Grrr!

I talked to my next-younger sister and she started going off on Bill Clinton and how she hates him and how * is so damn wonderful. I didn't pursue the conversation and argue with her. She's an idiot. An intelligent person, but an idiot just the same. She's one of those knee-jerk conservatives that cannot fathom that Republicans could possibly be anything but freaking Saints.

Then I opened my e-mails and found a quick one from my dearest friend who lives in Michigan. Her husband died at 10:00 this morning. He was diagnosed with cancer less than a month ago and now he's gone. My friend and the daughters are still reeling from the diagnosis and now he's gone already without even being given a chance to fight it.

It's a lousy damn day. I just want to crawl in a hole until Spring.

I am sorry and I apologize to your QMPMom, I did not mean to make light of your loss. We had a very sudden death in our family this summer so I feel for your shock and disorientation. The only positive that can be said is a very lame "at least the suffering was not prolonged" and that is pretty inadequate, I know. I am sorry.

is barely recovered from being hit by a car a few months ago.

19. Yes, she was leaving work and had just stepped off the curb and

was hit. Her recovery has been very difficult and she may need further surgery. I wish I could be there with her but there is no way I can go to her.
