The HOA in Chicago dropped its idea of fining the woman with the peace symbol wreath. |
|
I heard the blurb on the noon news today. The story said that some people had complained because it was "originally thought to be" a protest against the war in Iraq. The HOA now characterizes the problem as a misunderstanding and has dropped $25-a-day fine idea.
My question is - so what if it WERE an anti-war protest?

1. Damn right - unless they're also fining people for pro-war stuff, |

it's bullshit to call ONLY the "anti-war" stuff "political".
But I bet they wouldn't see it that way.
Just like the rightwingers look at celebrities who support the war and sing patriotic music and don't think the celebrities are being political, just patriotic; but the celebrities that speak out against the war (or Shrub, or whatever) ARE being political and so should shut up.
Sorry, assholes, it doesn't work in only one direction.
I'm glad they decided to drop the charges against the lady, because it makes no sense at all: Christmas is about the birth of the prince of peace - it only makes sense that a wreath would be in a peace sign.
