Taylor Hicks Says He Won't Watch 'American Idol' Anymore
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,232358,00.html

"American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks is biting the hand that made him a star.

The gray-haired pop-star says he won't watch the FOX show anymore -- and just wanted to use the exposure he got from winning "Idol" to further his career.

"'American Idol' for me is fizzling out," he tells the latest edition of Relix magazine, a publication formerly devoted to following the Grateful Dead.

"I want to take that opportunity and exposure: you either come see me, buy my album or you don't. I'm not trying to meet expectations. If you can say you're a working musician, then you're doing something good.

3. I don't know..
I think he is smart trying to distance himself from the show before he becomes too connected with it.

4. I think otherwise
Seriously, I don't care if the guy has the voice of Robert Plant re-incarnate, I won't buy his music simply because he IS an American Idol winner.

He's alienating the only fan-base he's gonna get for another group of music-lovers who think American Idol is a piece of crap karoke.

I personally think he should work it for all he can get from American Idol. Until you reach the status of Kelly Clarkson, you need AI fans to help you sell records.

9. Well, that all depends on how you feel about your music
I was never famous, but I had a passion and I felt very personal about the music I make. I didn't jump on the bandwagon at anytime just to play gigs. I had friends that "sold out" as they say and made a few bucks off of it, but after that they were bummed out they did what they did.

To this day I am honest with my music and enjoy what I do. I know i could have done a lot better had I joined some hairbands, got a goth look or joined a cover band even.

Honestly, the true musicians I know care more about the music they make than the money they make. From what I saw of that dude on American Idol, he has passion and through the whole time he stuck with what he did even when he was told to change. Maybe he would rather sell 80,000 cds of the music he likes rather than 500,000 of music he doesn't like.

13. But "American Idol" has given some real talent (like Tamyra Gray and Bo Bice) significant airtime.

7. I not only have all his albums, PLUS bootlegs, PLUS unreleased

studio cuts that i had a friend steal for me, I have a giant blow up doll.

My anger at Taylor is really just the unexpressed latent homoerotic tension that I feel whenever I look at the bulge in his pants and those succulent, pouting blowjob lips.

10. Wow
What did he do to you? It must have really sucked whatever it was..LOL.

In my opinion, the guy was pretty good and it was cool to see someone with a bit of soul win that thing than some other pop tart.

14. I couldn't agree more with this if I tried.
He looks like the ass end of a camel, sings like a camel farts, and why anyone would give a fuck about what that douchebag thinks or wants is completely beyond me.

12. Kelly Clarkson seems to have disowned "American Idol" as well, and it made her a star.

And what are the odds that Carrie Underwood will ever set foot on that stage again either?
