TV Shows You're Ashamed To Admit You Watched/Still Watch.
Come on, fess up. Everyone's got 'em. The old-school Power Rangers, any Americanized anime...you've all watched them, and hated yourself for doing so.

I've got quite a few.

Pokemon: Go ahead, laugh. But there was just something about the cutesy atmosphere, shitty dialogue, and monster battles that broke every rule in the book that made me watch it.

Yu-Gi-Oh!: Yeah, I watched it--in the same manner that one watches a trainwreck. I just couldn't look away. Even when the WB moved it to the early timeslot (8am), I would set my alarm. OH GOD WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING

Fairly Oddparents: The humor in this show still makes me giggle like an idiot.

Teen Titans: I'm so, so, sorry...but again, it has Trainwreck Quality (tm).

Yeah, it's bad, but it wasn't pretending not to be so I can't really be too hard on it as a show. But I used to watch the hour-long block on TBS almost every day after school when I was in fourth and fifth grade. I probably saw that episode where "Jessie" gets hooked on the caffeine pills seven or eight times. (TBS seemed particularly fond of showing that one.) I'm pretty sure there isn't an episode I haven't seen! (I can say the same for "The Brady Bunch", but I still like watching it, so I'm not ashamed of that one.) When I think about the hours of my life I wasted during the prime of my childhood watching that show; let's see, that's an hour a day for 175 school days a year times two school years.... ugh, it's better I don't keep thinking about it.

Oh yeah, and if I ever start watching "Full House" now I wonder how I used to enjoy watching it so much. It's just so, so, very cheesy. And I have quite the high cheese tolerance...

In terms of more recent shows, it's tough 'cause there's very little TV I watch. But I watched the WB's short-lived Related series last year, 'cause I thought the youngest sister, played by Laura Breckenridge, was really pretty. And it was fairly entertaining. But now I'm a little ashamed... haha

ON EDIT: Here's a pic of Ms. Breckenridge, since I did use her as my justification for watching that cheesy show. (And I just think she's really pretty. It's the giant Bambi eyes, I guess...)

28. I watched both of those. The original Electric Company had a great cast!
Rita Moreno, Bill Cosby and Morgan Freeman were regulars, and the show used the voices of Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder and Joan Rivers, songs by Tom Lehrer and claymation by Will Vinton - what more could you ask for? It was the best children's educational show ever, I think.

I've the BR DVD set. Some of it is cheesy, but other episodes are downright fun.

The original BG was good until they lost the Cylons, and then it turned into maudlin soap opera. Ahead of its time, in some ways... (and their 'Ship Disaster' episode was obviously the prototype for Star Trek TNG's even worse version...)

All the shows you listed are awesome, sort of. OddParents is hit or miss. YuGi/Poke get boring fast though. I used to watch them more.

Teen Titans is cool. I still like DBZ/GT.

Do I hate myself for it or feel ashamed? No way. I like what I like and could care less of others opinions.

The only thing I did feel a bit ashamed of was getting hooked on celebrity poker. I still like watching it. I generally hate all vapid celebrity shows, but thats a little different because its about poker, not celebs.

and Frasier is brilliant, both acting and writing. BTW, I went to Church School with David Pierce. My mother was his teacher, LOL. She writes to him... :D

But "Joan of Arcadia" is lost to me. I was very apprehensive about watching the last episode, since she went up against the devil and thought it would be really scary, but it was just a precursor to the season premiere, which never aired...:-(

And you're sure right about TV news. You have to view it with a jaundiced eye.:-(

http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0131176/

My wife got into it during my last year in the Army, and we've been going through the DVDs. It's terribly overwrought, I guess, but well acted, and the characters, almost all of whom are ruthless f-cks, have astonishing depth. Everything is dirty. I have little use for Westerns, usually, but this is a good one.

I'm having a blast imitating the accents in hypothetical slashfic.

46. I love to watch those bad Saturday night Sci-Fi movies
Last week, it was something like "Basilisk: King of the Serpents"

Like a train wreck, I'm drawn to watch. It's like a gathering of washed up Sci-Fi actors - Basilisk had Cleavant Derricks (Rembrandt from "Sliders") and Yancy Butler ("Witchblade", I think) I think Dean Cain & Coolio have been in a few, and I remember seeing the guy who played Chakotay from Star Trek Voyager.

47. I am totally loving Higglytown Heroes right now
I turn it on in the morning because my 6 month old likes to watch the colors move around on a TV (takes after his daddy who refers to the TV as "the sacred box".

I'm not embarrassed about watching it. However, I am deeply disturbed that I know the hero song...

50. Then I'm a loser too.
The only shows I watch regularly on t.v. now: Survivor and CSI, the original. Sometimes I watch Masterpiece Theatre on PBS but not regularly. Other than that, I did watch the entire Buffy the Vampire Slayer series over the summer to keep me sane. None of these facts embarrass me! Well, not much.

56. Other shows I used to watch that I'm a bit ashamed about
The A-Team (I heard a commercial with Mr. T over this past summer and the theme to that show was going through my head for days!)

Wonder Woman
Battlestar Galactica (the original)
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
The 6 Million Dollar Man
The Bionic Woman
Three's Company
The Dungeons & Dragons cartoon
Superfriends
The Spider-Man cartoon (the one with the Spider-man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can song)
The Incredible Hulk show with Bill Bixby
The Spider-Man show with Nicholas Hammond, even though it sucked.

I'm sure others will spring to mind.

I KNOW I KNOW--oh GOD do I know. But I have my excuse at the ready: It was the first thing on when I got home in the afternoon during my one and only year teaching high school English. I was so wiped that the only thing I could do for the first couple of hours in the evening was lie on the couch and watch bad TV. I didn't even have the energy to change the channel. And when I had partially recovered I would make a giant tub of popcorn for dinner.

What a crappy year that was...

I had a thing for Melissa Sue Anderson (that's not the only reason I liked the show, though I liked it less once she left). It did "jump the shark" once they added the Cooper children and especially once it became "Little House, A New Beginning".

used to be youd get quirky personalities on Elimidate incl some smart funny girls. Now they just go straight for the catfights and boob fests which is fine if you like em but I just get bored.

I've decided I'm never going to watch the batchelor again-- I never want to hear the line "every girl dreams of being a princess" EVER AGAIN!!!! And what's with these guys-- they always choose the one with the most vapid personalities.

107. Two of my favorite shows ...

Not ashamed of them at all.

I thirsted for the day various legal issues got resolved so that I could buy TAGS on DVD. Whenever I'm in a bad mood, I just put in one of the DVDs from the first 5 seasons, and I am lifted.

Their one and only Christmas special is my favorite Christmas special of any television show ever. I'm sorta glad they didn't do others. It makes that one special.
