I blame my parents for stalling my writing career

All my stories end up being very sexual, and I don't want to offend them. So I could never send them to be published for fear they would read them and be disgusted.

And I will never use a pen name because I'm too much of an egomaniac to allow someone even of my own creation to get credit for my work.

3. At some point you gotta let go of what your parents want for you

and do what you want for yourself. You need to realize that you are essentially letting your parents censor your work for you. Any artist must be true to themselves, and not their censors. If your parents truly love you than they will come around and forgive you, even if they never read another piece of your writing. If they don't then you are depriving yourself of your dreams for people that don't ultimately have your happiness and fulfillment at heart. Which one is more important for you?

grab a mirror. There is the one stalling your writing career.

A writer writes; so just do it. Parents be damned. If they are disgusted, they are disgusted. However, if your parents love you, which I must assume they do, they will still love you even if they are shocked by what you have written.

If the disown you, dedicate your second book to them complete with their full names and family photos. :P

I am on very low sleep, so I have no idea if I sound like an ass or not, I was trying to go for "Inspiring" with a touch of "Playfulness". I could very well have scrambled that up with "Jackass". :shrug:

7. Bullshit.

Writers throughout history have endured far worse punishment than parental disapproval and they still wrote. Grow a spine if that's all that is holding you back.

maybe the question to ask is WHY all of your stories end up being sexual?

Are there issues you need to address in your life that you're avoiding and that's coming out in your writing? Just asking the question . . .
